Scouting report

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Minnesota Vikings

Deonte Thompson led the Bears in targets (9) last week, catching 5 passes for 44 yards. He's been the No. 2 WR in this offense, but is fourth on the team in receptions and receiving yards. Being the fourth option in an offense that doesn't have a lot of success in the passing game isn't a very reliable formula for fantasy owners.

Thompson has some playmaking ability, but he's too unreliable for fantasy purposes.

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Green Bay Packers

Deonte Thompson was the lone Bears receiver to catch a pass in Week 3, and it only went for 9 yards. The Bears receivers as a whole have struggled, and pretty much none of them have any relevance in fantasy. Feel comfortable avoiding Thompson this week and future weeks.

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Deonte Thompson had 5 targets last week, catching 4 passes for 57 yards and the Bears' lone touchdown. Not a bad outing, but hardly reliable. Thompson's role will likely be reduced once Markus Wheaton makes his return, which could be this week.

We haven't seen much from Thompson outside of the touchdown that makes him worth considering in fantasy. It's best to avoid him this week.

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Deonte Thompson is the Bears' No. 2 option at receiver, but he didn't do much with that role last week. He had just 1 reception (on 2 targets) for 15 yards. Thompson is a speedy receiver, as he's acted as the Bears return man, but he hasn't done much as a receiver so far.

He might break a big play here and there, but there's no reason to start him this week against the Buccaneers.

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Deonte Thompson is a third-string receiver in an ugly passing offense. He's likely on waivers in your typical redraft league, and shouldn't be considered as a viable fantasy option this week.

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Washington
Deonte Thompson saw the second-most targets on the team last week (10) and finished with 110 yards (a team high) on eight receptions. This was a career-best game for Thompson, who has been in the league for five seasons. He's had a few bright spot this year, but he's mostly been a dud.

There's a chance he finds some success against the Redskins this week, but he'd be a tough player to trust in the fantasy title game.

CHI WR Deonte Thompson - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Detroit
Deonte Thompson was fairly involved two weeks ago, but didn't do a lot last week. Of course, the snow played a role in how the team operated in Week 13, but we need to see more out of Thompson before trusting him in fantasy. As of now, he's not much more than a WR5, especially against a tough defense.
