Scouting report

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 13, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Washington
Could DeSean Jackson be heating up in time for your fantasy playoffs? Jackson made it back-to-back weeks with a TD catch after posting a 4-118-1 line on eight targets last week. The week before, he posted a 4-51-1 (6) line, so DJax at least appears to be trending upward.

Jackson gets a pretty nice matchup this week against the Cards, who are 18th in allowing fantasy points to WRs. The Skins could struggle with the run game this week, something the Cardinals are statistically better at, so it may mean more opportunities for Jackson and the passing game. Jackson really struggled between Weeks 4-8 and is probably still tough to trust given where he falls in our rankings, but he's at least a player to keep an eye on if you need help at WR. His schedule is pretty favorable ROS.

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Dallas
DeSean Jackson had a nice game against the Packers in Week 11, collecting four catches for 51 yards and a TD. It was his first TD since Week 2. It was the most receiving yards he's collected since Week 6 and the second highest total since Week 3 so it's pretty clear Jackson had been in a bit of a funk.

The problem in Washington is too many targets which can make any Skin WR a bit of a risky play. Jamison Crowder went over 100 yards with a TD last week and remains a better play than Jackson. But Pierre Garcon is also in the mix and TE Jordan Reed is often a go-to target. Jackson is ranked just in the 40s this week so he's really only safe in deeper leagues.

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 10, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Minnesota
DeSean Jackson had another average game back in Week 8 before their bye. Jackson caught three balls for 48 yards on seven targets. For the year, Jackson is averaging just under four catches for 52 yards. He has only one TD on the season.

Jamison Crowder is once again ranked as the highest Redskin WR this week, so Jackson's ranking takes a hit. It also doesn't help it's a tough matchup against the Vikings who are second in allowing fantasy points to WRs. Jackson has a pretty good history against the Vikes, though. His last two games he's averaging a line of 7-157-1, but Jackson is a risky play this week and is way down our list.

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 8, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 at Cincinnati
It was another unimpressive day for DeSean Jackson's fantasy owners in Week 7. Jackson caught just five balls for 35 yards on eight targets last week.

The last four weeks, Jackson is only averaging over four catches a game for just over 30 yards a game with no TDs. He is averaging eight targets in his last three games, but overall, Jackson has been hurting owners who start him. The Bengals are seventh in allowing fantasy points to WRs, so this isn't a great matchup either.

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Detroit
DeSean Jackson had four catches for 55 yards last week against his former team. We've seen better days from Jackson against the Eagles, so his final numbers were probably disappointing. The Redskins had great success running the ball last week, which limited the passing game.

Jackson gets a great matchup in Week 7. He's ranked 28th on our list this week, which is more of a high-end WR3. The Lions are just 29th in allowing fantasy points to WRs, so Jackson should probably be in lineups as risky of a play as he can be. Also, Jamison Crowder seems to be emerging as a third threat for the Skins, so there are a lot of players who need targets when TE Jordan Reed is healthy.

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Philadelphia
It was back-to-back poor fantasy performances for DeSean Jackson owners. Jackson was targeted seven times last week, but had just three catches for 35 yards. This followed a 1-5-0 line against Cleveland in Week 4.

Jackson has always been up and down in his career so the recent numbers shouldn't be shocking. The good news is Jackson had had a history of beating up on his former team, the Eagles, especially in 2014 when he was healthy, posting totals that year of 9-243-1 (17) in two games. That's who he faces this week. But keep in mind, this is a different Eagles defense than the one he faced under Chip Kelly. The Birds are third in allowing fantasy points to WRs so Jackson gets a WR3 ranking this week. Given he's on a down streak at the moment, Jackson owners may want to look for better options this week.

WAS WR DeSean Jackson - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Baltimore
DeSean Jackson was targeted just twice last week, in what was supposed to be a great matchup against the Browns. Jackson finished with just one catch for five yards on the day. It was TE Jordan Reed who busted out with a line of 9-73-2, which kept all the Redskins WRs in check. DJax played on 77 percent of the snaps, but has been dealing with knee and ankle issues.

I feel like I need to say this every week, but Jackson can be boom-or-bust (evidenced by his bust in Week 4 after a line of 5-96-1 in Week 3). As a result, DJax will usually average out as a WR3 most weeks. This week, it's a tough matchup against the Ravens, who are in the middle of the pack when it comes to average fantasy points allowed to WRs. Always start Jackson with caution.
