ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10: Hester vs. Bucs
Devin Hester failed to get on the stat sheet in the Falcons’ Week 8 loss to the Lions in London. For those fantasy owners that were hoping to catch lightning in a bottle when Hester went off against the Vikings in late September, they’ve been highly disappointed. Hester has been relegated to being a gadget player in Dirk Koetter’s offense and should be avoided in all formats.

ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8: Hester vs. Lions
Devin Hester caught 3-of-5 targets for 28 yards in the Falcons’ Week 7 loss to the Ravens. Hester continues to fill the void of the injured Harry Douglas but his production over the past three weeks has been minimal (6 receptions, 67 yards, 0 TDs). Even with Douglas expected to miss Sunday’s game in London, Hester is nothing more than a gadget player and should remain on your bench (or waiver wire). He’s our 70th overall WR for Week 8.

ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7: Hester vs. Ravens
Devin Hester caught only one pass for 23 yards in the Falcons' Week 6 loss to the Bears. Even though he had a great matchup against his former team and figured to see more than one target while playing in place of the injured Harry Douglas, Hester was barely a blip on the radar screen. His output showed once again that he's just a gadget player in Dirk Koetter's pass-happy offense and is a boom-or-bust start for fantasy owners. He ranks as our No. 66 overall WR for Week 7 and should remain on your bench/waiver wire.

ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6: Hester vs. Bears
Devin Hester caught just 2-of-4 passes for 16 yards in the Falcons' Week 5 loss to the Giants. The passing game went through Julio Jones, who caught 11-of-16 targets for 105 yards as no other receiver had more than six targets in the loss. Hester will continue to serve as Atlanta's No. 3 receiver with Harry Douglas still battling a foot injury. But Hester remains a gadget player in Dirk Koetter's offense and fantasy owners need to be aware of the risk. He's a boom-or-bust start that carries more bust than boom and while he's worth a roster stash in deeper leagues, he's also our No. 58 overall WR for Week 6 and should be avoided.

ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5: Hester vs. Giants
Devin Hester caught five passes for 70 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons' Week 4 loss to the Vikings. He had a bigger role in the offense with Harry Douglas out with a foot injury. Hester also suffered an ankle injury that caused him to be limited in practice this week. While he's had a few big games this season, Hester remains a boom-or-bust option in fantasy circles. He's worth stashing in deeper leagues and with Douglas likely to be out again this week, it'll be tempting to put him in your lineup. But resist the temptation as Hester remains more of a gimmick player than a reliable option. Eric Weems has routinely been playing ahead of him. Hester ranks as our No. 64 overall WR for Week 5.

ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 4, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4: Hester vs. Vikings
Devin Hester caught just one pass for 25 yards in the Falcons' 56-14 win over the Buccaneers in Week 3, but he also added a 20-yard rushing touchdown on an end-around and took a punt back to the house to set the NFL record for most return touchdowns. Atlanta OC Dirk Koetter said earlier this week that Hester has "played his way into more plays" on offense now that he's caught 7-of-8 targets for 126 yards through three games, but be careful. He'll continue to be a gadget player in the Falcons offense and thus, a boom-or-bust starter in fantasy. While it's tempting to add him, leave him on your waiver wire unless there's a serious injury to Atlanta's WR depth chart.

ATL WR Devin Hester - Week 3, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hester vs. Bucs
One week after posting a 6-99-0 line, Devin Hester caught just one pass for two yards in the Falcons' Week 2 loss to the Bengals. It's going to be feast or famine every week for Hester, who is the fourth option in the passing game behind Julio Jones, Roddy White and Harry Douglas. When the Falcons' offense is firing on all cylinders, Hester could be a homerun threat from the slot as defenses are forced to concentrate on players like Jones and White. But when Atlanta's offense is bogged down like it was last Sunday in Cincinnati, Hester will be rendered useless. For fantasy purposes, leave Hester on your waiver wire. He ranks as our No. 100 overall WR for Week 3 as he'll be more bust than boom more weeks.
