Fantasy Upside
Devin Singletary was a solid back as a rookie for the Bills and led the team in key rushing categories. He ran the ball 151 times for 775 yards for a healthy 5.1 yards per carry in only 12 games. Frank Gore had more carries but less production. The plans are for Singletary to be featured more this season and Buffalo's offense should be improved across the board with upgrades made in the off-season. He also had 29 receptions for 194 yards so there is room to grow in the Bills' passing game.
Fantasy Downside
Despite a solid rookie season, Singletary only ranked 24th in the league in rushing yards. With the possibility of playing four more games if he stays healthy, you might think he has a chance to have his stats go up significantly. However, the Bills did draft Zach Moss in the third round and he is expected to take touches away from Singletary, especially in goalline and short-yardage situations. Another negative from Singletary was he had four total touchdowns in 2019 - two rushing and two receiving.
2020 Bottom Line
Singletary is a valid fantasy option who will raise his rushing yard total to over 900 yards and should be more involved in the passing game. His ADP has him the 21st running back taken in the preseason, but that is actually higher than we value him. His value should have him going no earlier than the fifth round as he is ranked 27th in the running back rankings. Singletary will have a good season, but most see him as an RB2 going into the season, but he should be treated more like an RB3 or flex in 2020.
