MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Tennessee Titans

As the main attraction on the Dolphins offense this season, De'Von Achane has been the one constant through the quarterback turmoil. It wasn't a great day against the Seahawks, but he still led the Dolphins in carries and was tied for the team lead in targets.

Against the Titans, who are 25th aFPA against running backs, Achane should have more room to run than against the Seahawks. Achane is back in the RB1 mix this week, especially if Snoop Huntley is the starting quarterback. He's still not back to his elite ceiling when Tua Tagovailoa was healthy, but he can be started confidently this week. We'll see if Raheem Mostert returns this week after getting two limited practices in.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Seattle Seahawks

With Raheem Mostert doubtful this week, De'Von Achane should have the majority of the work again. Achane had 22 carries and 7 receptions against Buffalo and carried the Miami offense.

Even with Skylar Thompson under center, Achane is still an RB1 this week. He's going to be the focal point of the offense and without Mostert has the goal line work and the passing-down work. He's a must-start even with Thompson starting at quarterback.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

While De'Von Achane status is still up in the air, at least he wasn't immediately ruled out like Raheem Mostert. It's looking like a game-time decision for Achane in a favorable matchup. In the two games Achane played without Mostert to end last season, Achane finished with 24 carries for 163 yards and a touchdown. Plus, 6 catches for 35 yards and a touchdown. Not huge, but we've seen Achane's immense upside even when Mostert is healthy.

The matchup is middle of the pack, but he's a locked in RB1 without Mostert. If Achane happens to be on the wrong side of a game-time decision, Jeff Wilson and Jaylen Wright would step up in his place.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
We still aren't 100 percent sure what the split will look like between De'Von Achane, Raheem Mostert, and just how much rookie Jaylen Wright works in, but we know Achane is going to be super impressive when he does get the ball.

If he gets the 10-13 touches he got last year, he'll still be a RB1 on the week, especially in PPR formats, but if he starts to get more touches he could be in for a big week in a game with one of the highest totals on the week. Yes, Mostert will still likely be the goal-line back, but if this turns into more of a shootout we could see Achane get a few extra targets. It places him firmly in the RB1 conversation.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The upside case for De'Von Achane is simple, he finished fourth in per-game scoring in 2023 as a rookie and his main competition is a 32-year-old. Achane was PFF's No. 1 running back in rush grade and 13th in receiving grade as a rookie. Everything about his profile screams upside except for two little things.

Fantasy Downside
The two things that held Achane back as a rookie were his health and opportunity. It's impossible to project injuries, but his opportunities should remain a bit of a concern in 2024. With Raheem Mostert back and using a fourth-round pick on Jaylen Wright, this will still be a committee.

2024 Bottom Line
The bottom line is we are potentially drafting Achane at his ceiling at RB7, but if you're betting on someone's ceiling you'd likely want to bet on the most efficient player in the league. Even assuming his efficiency takes a small step back that could be offset with a few extra opportunities per game. However, given Achane's added competition in the backfield and the revamped receiver room, Achane isn't a fade, but he's going in a range I'm usually looking at receivers. He's a buy if he drops out of the second round.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Baltimore Ravens

De'Von Achane got off to a historic start at the beginning of the year, but he's cooled off since returning from his injury. In his last three games, Achane is averaging 54.6 scrimmage yards with no touchdowns. Not bad, but nowhere near the 100+ yard games he was having at the start of the year. This week he'll draw a brutal matchup vs. the Ravens (1st aFPA). It's not ideal, but Achane's speed always gives him a high ceiling due to his ability to break a big play at any moment. Still, his recent production makes him a little risky. He should be viewed in the RB3 range for Week 17 due to the tough matchup as well as his timeshare with Raheem Mostert.

MIA RB De'Von Achane - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Dallas Cowboys

De'Von Achane had a solid afternoon last week rushing nine times for 32 yards while catching three passes for 30 yards. The Dolphins somewhat limited Achane as he only played on 39% of the offensive snaps since the game got out of hand quickly. Expect a bigger performance from the rookie this week in a big game against the Cowboys (16th aFPA). Achane should be viewed as a strong RB2 option this week, and he's a player with a high ceiling due to his playmaking ability.
