Scouting report

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs Browns

Diontae Johnson saw 13 targets against the Seahawks. No one else had more than seven. It was also his third game with nine catches this season. He's about as consistent as they come at the receiver position, with at least 70 yards in four straight games that he has played in. And in his last two games against the Browns, including the playoff game, Johnson totaled 14 catches for 213 yards (11 for 117 in the playoffs). He's among our top 10 half-PPR wide receivers this week.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Seahawks

Diontae Johnson saw just two targets against the Broncos. It's all he needed, though. One of those targets was a 22-yard catch. The other was a 50-yard touchdown strike. Just goes to show he doesn't even need to be involved much to make a big impact. And with JuJu Smith-Schuster done for the year, Johnson will only continue to grow in the offense. He's a borderline WR1 this week and going forward.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs Broncos

Looks like Diontae Johnson is back. After missing Week 4 with a knee injury, Johnson stormed back with a 9-92-1 line on targets. He's back as Ben Roethlisberger's go-to guy on the outside. We could be set for a fun matchup on Sunday between Johnson and that Broncos secondary, but Johnson is almost becoming matchup-proof at this point. He also had an 8-92-1 line last season against the Broncos.

PIT WR Chase Claypool - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Packers

Diontae Johnson was able to practice in full on Thursday, likely giving him the green light on Sunday against the Packers. That’s great news for Ben Roethlisberger, at least giving him another option and arguably his favorite option. Hopefully, Johnson won’t be too limited, but a full practice is a great sign. We’ll keep an eye out through the weekend.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs Bengals

Another week, another target lead for Diontae Johnson. Johnson now has 22 targets through two weeks and notched his first 100-yard receiving game of the season. The Steelers are always going to spread the football around, but the ball always seems to come back around to Johnson, giving him weekly high upside at a fairly cheap price. Fire him up again against the Bengals, with whom he's scored a touchdown against in three of his last four meetings.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs Raiders

Diontae Johnson played the second-most snaps among the wide receivers, but is still one of Big Ben's most-trusted receivers, seeing ten targets in Week 1, his 11th game with at least ten targets since the start of 2020. Even with the other receivers looming, Johnson is arguably WR1 in this offense, giving him weekly WR1 upside at WR2 prices. Fire him up in Week 2.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Bills

Diontae Johnson gets the slight edge as he seemed to really make a connection with Ben Roethlisberger in 2020, having seen the most targets among the Steelers receivers in 2020 with 144. He likely won't be returning as much, as Ray-Ray McCloud is listed as the kick returner and punt returner, though Johnson is the backup punt returner. Even with all the weapons available, there is room for Johnson to still be a fine WR2 option this week.
