JAX WR D.J. Chark - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Detroit Lions
With Gardner Minshew again having to air it out at Houston last week, D.J. Chark finished with three receptions for 16 yards before leaving with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter. Chark has found the end zone three times this season so be sure to monitor his status, as he has a good matchup versus a Detroit defense that allows over 400 yards per game.

JAX WR D.J. Chark - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Houston Texans
After missing the previous contest D.J. Chark returned last Sunday at Cincinnati. In the loss he led the Jaguars with nine targets, eight receptions, 95 yards and both of the team’s touchdowns. The Jacksonville aerial attack has been much better with Chark on the field. Even though the Texans have been good against the pass, Chark is a WR2 play.

JAX WR D.J. Chark - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Cincinnati Bengals
D.J. Chark missed last Thursday’s game versus the Dolphins due to chest and back injuries. In the loss the offense definitely missed him, as Gardner Minshew was forced to throw underneath for much of the contest. With a couple extra days to get healthy Chark may be back on the field Sunday and makes for a WR2 start facing what has been a pretty good Cincy pass defense.

JAX WR D.J. Chark - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 – D.J. Chark vs. Miami Dolphins
In the loss to the Titans last Sunday D.J. Chark registered four receptions for a team-leading 84 yards. While Gardner Minshew’s three TD tosses went to other pass catchers, including Keelan Cole for the second week in a row, Chark is dealing with a chest injury and is questionable for Thursday's contest; if he's healthy, he'll remain a big part of the Jaguars aerial attack. In the first two games this season Miami has struggled to stop the pass, so keep on starting Chark as long as he's active.

JAX WR D.J. Chark - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Tennessee Titans
Picking up where he left off in ’19, D.J. Chark found himself in the end zone in the opener versus the Colts. In the win he caught only three passes for 25 yards, as Gardner Minshew spread the ball around. Chark should be the top target for Minshew as the season continues and the duo have a good matchup on Sunday. Consider Chark a WR2 start.

JAX WR D.J. Chark - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 – D.J. Chark vs. Indianapolis Colts
After catching only 14 passes during his rookie season, D.J. Chark busted on the scene in ’19, registering 73 grabs for over 1,000 yards and eight TDs. He became Gardner Minshew’s top target, as the duo showed great rapport. Without Leonard Fournette to help milk the clock, Minshew could be airing it out often this season. Chark should definitely be a part of your starting lineup in the opener.

JAX WR D.J. Chark - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Even with a new OC -- Jay Gruden is replacing John DeFilippo -- D.J. Chark's role shouldn't change noticeably this season. In fact, Chark believes Gruden's West Coast offense scheme is a good fit to attack defenses more and create scoring opportunities. A change was definitely needed because the Jaguars ranked near the bottom of the league last season in scoring at 26th (18.6) and in red-zone scoring percentage for touchdowns at 31st (40.43). Gruden's offense is designed around play-action passing, taking shots downfield and quick reads by the quarterback. "I played in a West Coast offense my first three years of college (LSU), so I'm excited," Chark said. Despite the Jaguars' disappointing 6-10 record, Chark enjoyed a breakout season in 2019. According to ESPN.com, a big reason for that success was that Chark figured out how hard he needed to work and the proper way to prepare each week. That was something he admitted he didn't take as seriously as a rookie in 2018.

Fantasy Downside
Chark still needs to work on getting separation and figuring out how to be consistently productive when teams are rolling coverages his way, but some of that comes with experience.

2020 Bottom Line
As long as he stays healthy, Chark will provide considerable value given his current WR3 ADP.
