Fantasy Upside
Even with a new OC -- Jay Gruden is replacing John DeFilippo -- D.J. Chark's role shouldn't change noticeably this season. In fact, Chark believes Gruden's West Coast offense scheme is a good fit to attack defenses more and create scoring opportunities. A change was definitely needed because the Jaguars ranked near the bottom of the league last season in scoring at 26th (18.6) and in red-zone scoring percentage for touchdowns at 31st (40.43). Gruden's offense is designed around play-action passing, taking shots downfield and quick reads by the quarterback. "I played in a West Coast offense my first three years of college (LSU), so I'm excited," Chark said. Despite the Jaguars' disappointing 6-10 record, Chark enjoyed a breakout season in 2019. According to ESPN.com, a big reason for that success was that Chark figured out how hard he needed to work and the proper way to prepare each week. That was something he admitted he didn't take as seriously as a rookie in 2018.
Fantasy Downside
Chark still needs to work on getting separation and figuring out how to be consistently productive when teams are rolling coverages his way, but some of that comes with experience.
2020 Bottom Line
As long as he stays healthy, Chark will provide considerable value given his current WR3 ADP.
