Fantasy Upside
D.K. Metcalf was drafted because of his speed and size. With Doug Baldwin gone, the second-round pick will have an opportunity to become the starter on the other side of veteran Tyler Lockett. Early in camp, Metcalf was given that role so it will be his to lose. But if he wins the job, he will be another weapon for QB Russell Wilson.
Fantasy Downside
Metcalf didn’t put up crazy numbers at Ole Miss, but he showed a lot of potential. But rookies having success in the NFL is not easy. Drafting Metcalf brings lots of risks and with two veterans on the depth chart, if he struggles, he could end up on the bench.
2019 Bottom Line
Metcalf is getting drafted too early. His ADP of 121 is too high and more likely should be a late draft pick at best. Although, he has the potential to be a good NFL receiver down the road, there are too many risks involved in drafting him. Don’t be fooled by the potential because it is a long shot, he is going to be more than depth this season.
