SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Pittsburgh
DK Metcalf had a strong NFL debut with four catches for 89 yards. He was the second-most targeted receiver after Chris Carson and looked like he was a very in-tune with the offense has a rookie.

Metcalf took on a tough role as the No. 2 receiver for Seattle, but if he plays like last week, he will be worth the draft pick you used to acquire him. The matchup this week against Pittsburgh won't be easy, but there's no doubt Metcalf's stock went up after Week 1. Keep him on the bench for Week 2, but pick him up if for some reason he's still on the waiver wire.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Cincinnati
DK Metcalf is being thrown into the fire his rookie season as a starting wide receiver opposite Tyler Lockett. It should be an up and down season for Metcalf who definitely has the potential to be a quality NFL receiver.

Don't expect much Week 1 as he was drafted in most leagues, but he is purely depth at this point. He will face the Bengals who were 11th in aFPA to wide receivers last season, but that unit might actually be worse. Keep Metcalf on the bench this Sunday for the opener.

SEA WR DK Metcalf - 2019 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
D.K. Metcalf was drafted because of his speed and size. With Doug Baldwin gone, the second-round pick will have an opportunity to become the starter on the other side of veteran Tyler Lockett. Early in camp, Metcalf was given that role so it will be his to lose. But if he wins the job, he will be another weapon for QB Russell Wilson.

Fantasy Downside
Metcalf didn’t put up crazy numbers at Ole Miss, but he showed a lot of potential. But rookies having success in the NFL is not easy. Drafting Metcalf brings lots of risks and with two veterans on the depth chart, if he struggles, he could end up on the bench.

2019 Bottom Line
Metcalf is getting drafted too early. His ADP of 121 is too high and more likely should be a late draft pick at best. Although, he has the potential to be a good NFL receiver down the road, there are too many risks involved in drafting him. Don’t be fooled by the potential because it is a long shot, he is going to be more than depth this season.
