Scouting report

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 17, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Denver

Donald Brown ran 14 times for 17 yards last week but did score a TD on the ground. Obviously not great fantasy numbers but he did get a nice workload. This week's matchup isn't a great one as the Broncos are fourth in allowing fantasy points to RBs. Brown essentially split carries with Danny Woodhead who had 11 and was way more productive. Brown isn't a great option when you consider the matchup.

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 - Brown vs. Kansas City

With Ryan Mathew out last week, Brown only managed five touches in a come-from-behind win over the 49ers. Brown rushed just four times for 12 yards and added a catch for four yards. Branden Oliver had 16 touches last week compared to Brown.

Mathews could return this week, but either way Brown looks like he's going to be behind Oliver if Mathews can't go. If all three backs play, Brown's work will be even more limited making him a risky play, even with the Chiefs ranking around the middle of the pack in allowing fantasy points to RBs.

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 - Brown vs. San Francisco
Donald Brown carried five times for 18 yards last week and added four catches for 38 yards. With Ryan Mathews likely out this week, Brown and Branden Oliver look to pick up the slack. Oliver out-rushed Brown 12-5 last week and we think that continues this week against the 49ers. Brown has nine receptions total in the last two games and could continue to be a factor in the passing game, but he's not a great option in a tough road matchup this week.

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 - Brown vs. Denver
Brown didn't get a carry last week but did catch five balls for 49 yards on six targets. Perhaps it will be Brown who takes on a Danny Woodhead like role going forward, because it certainly hasn't been Branden Oliver. Brown's five touches last week was the most since Week 9. Either way, Brown is a risky play in a tough matchup this week. Keep an eye on Ryan Mathews' status, as we had reports Mathews has a leg injury on top of recovering from his knee injury. It's possible Brown has a little more of a role.

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 - Brown vs. New England
Donald Brown actually had more touches than Branden Oliver last week, collecting one catch for six yards and adding a run for minus-two yards. Like Oliver, Brown just isn't a safe option with a very limited amount of touches.

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 - Brown vs. Oakland
Donald Brown returns this week to what looks like a crowded backfield. He was signed to take a few more carries away from Ryan Mathews this season but Brenden Oliver has now emerged in this committee. It's a nice matchup this week but Brown is a risk for lineups. It's possible he goes back to his role spelling Mathews while Oliver is the pass-catching back. Probably best to let this sort itself out and see how things go this week.

SD RB Donald Brown - Week 6, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 - Brown vs. Oakland
Donald Brown suffered a concussion last week and gave way to Branden Oliver who went off for a monster game. Brown's status is very much in the air this week. If he can play, he likely figures to share a workload with Oliver, but if he's out, Oliver could be in store for a big day.
