Scouting report

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 9, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Dallas
With Isaiah Crowell struggling last week, the Browns turned to Duke Johnson in the passing game. He caught six passes for 87 yards, adding 29 yards on the ground. He only has one touchdown on the season, however, so his ceiling is limited from week-to-week.

Johnson's 116 total yards were a season for him, and just the second time he's eclipsed 80 yards this season. He obviously has more value in a PPR format, where his receptions make up for his lack of scores and yards.

The Browns back should be viewed as an RB3 in standard formats and a low-end RB2 in PPR in a tough matchup against the Cowboys.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 8, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs. New York Jets
Duke Johnson hasn't been stellar in 2016, but he's done enough to be on the bottom of the fantasy radar. He's a solid flex play in PPR formats if you need someone, but he could struggle to put up points this week against the Jets.

Johnson is on the low-end RB2 scale this week as he should get a few yards in both the rushing and receiving department.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Cincinnati
Duke Johnson didn't get much accomplished on the ground last week, but he did have four receptions for 56 yards. He also added a goal-line rushing score making for a nice game overall.

This week he'll face a Bengals defense that allowed a big day to James White last week. White is a good comparison for Johnson because they serve similar pass-catching roles in their respective offenses. The main difference, obviously, is White has Tom Brady throwing to him while Johnson has Cody Kessler.

Johnson is a better play in PPR formats, but is still nothing more than a flex play.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Duke Johnson - Week 6 vs. Tennessee
Duke Johnson had put together a nice string of games up until last week. Against the Patriots, Johnson carried the ball four times for one yard and only caught two passes for 21 yards.

We expect he'll do better this week in what should be a closer game against the Titans. This isn't a dream matchup, but we expect a more typical stat line from Johnson. He should be viewed as a low-end flex play in PPR formats.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Indianapolis
Duke Johnson is averaging over 70 yards per game in the last three weeks, and has boosted his numbers in PPR formats with four, five and six receptions in the last three games. He still hasn't found the endzone this season, which is something he'll likely struggle with all season.

Johnson is an interesting play this week because he may get more looks in the potential blowout. The Browns lean on Johnson as their receiving back, so he could get some cheap dumpoff passes late in the game to pad his PPR numbers.

In a decent matchup against the Patriots, we view Johnson as a solid RB3 or flex play.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 4, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Washington
Duke Johnson wasn't much of a factor in the first two games, but he finished with 81 total yards last week, including five receptions. He'll try and continue his success in Week 4 against the Redskins, a defense that has been favorable to running backs so far.

Washington's allowed the third-most fantasy points to backs through three weeks, in large part to the seven rushing touchdowns they've given up. Johnson isn't much of a touchdown threat, but he's still got potential this week. We expect him to be a low-end RB2 or strong flex play.

CLE RB Duke Johnson - Week 3, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Miami
Through two weeks, Duke Johnson has been a decent PPR option, which was expected, but he's pretty much been non-existent in the running game. Johnson's had three carries in each of his first two games compared to his seven total receptions.

The Browns will likely rely on their backs this week, but if the first two games are any indication, Isaiah Crowell will get most of the important touches. Johnson is a low-end flex play in PPR leagues, and a RB3 or RB4 in standard.
