Fantasy Upside
The Redskins added Dwayne Haskins with the 15th overall pick in the draft. Haskins was a star at Ohio State, throwing 50 touchdowns with just eight interceptions in his final season. He finished the year with the fourth-highest QB rating in the country (174.1). He joins the Redskins with a shot at starting in Week 1 as Alex Smith recovers from his devastating leg injury.
Fantasy Downside
While Haskins has a good shot at starting, the job is certainly not his right away. Washington brought in Case Keenum this offseason and retained Colt McCoy as a backup. Even if Haskins does start Week 1, he doesn’t have a great supporting cast around him. He also doesn’t add value as a runner, giving him very limited appeal in fantasy.
2019 Bottom Line
Haskins has just 15 college starts to his name as he prepares to face professional defenses. He may be a good quarterback down the line, but it’s hard seeing him be too successful in 2019. On top of all that, there’s no guarantee he even plays this season, making his draft selection a risky one. There are much better quarterback options out there.
