Scouting report

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 12, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Cleveland

Eli Manning had a modest 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Bears last week. Chicago has been surprisingly good on defense, despite their record, but Eli came out with the win and a reasonable fantasy day. Manning hasn’t put the ball in the end zone as much this year as he has in years past, but he’s got the Giants in position to win a wildcard spot and has been using his weapons effectively of late.

This week should be an excellent opportunity for Eli to get back on track from a fantasy perspective. The Browns are dead last in the league in touchdown passes allowed, and while Eli can be very erratic at times, all the signs point to a good day from the veteran. Fantasy owners shouldn’t skip over their every-week starters, but if Eli is available to stream or has been sitting on your bench waiting for good matchups, now is the time.

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 11, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Chicago

Eli Manning had 240 yards and three touchdowns against the Bengals last week, but he also threw a pair of interceptions in a close New York victory. Manning has struggled to find the end zone much of the season, but he has 10 touchdowns over the current four-game winning streak and seems to have the Giants on track in a tight NFC East division.

This week, Manning faces a Bears defense that has actually been above average against the pass this year. They are tied for 11th in the league with only 13 passing touchdowns allowed, and they’re 12th in passing yards allowed per game. Expect a good, albeit not great performance from Manning. He’s too inconsistent to trust, but he’s a solid borderline starter in most leagues and a quality QB2.

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 10, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Cincinnati

Eli Manning had a nice game against the Eagles last week, turning in a close victory and throwing four touchdown passes in the process. He had only 257 yards and he threw a pair of picks, but it was good to see him finish four drives since the offense has been so troubled this season.

This week, Eli is a nice streaming option against the Bengals. Cincinnati has given up 16 touchdown passes so far this year and allows 262 yards passing per game, 23rd and 21st in the league, respectively. Expect this game to be a high scoring affair and for Eli to get plenty of pass attempts as a result. We have just outside our top ten rankings this week, making him a borderline starter and solid fill-in option in most leagues.

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 9, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 vs. Philadelphia

Eli Manning had a bye last week, but struggled against the Rams the week before in London. He ended up with only 196 yards and didn’t throw a touchdown pass. Right now he’s on pace right now for only 18 touchdown passes, which would be tied for the lowest since his rookie year, when he played in only nine games.

This week, Manning might rebound a little. The Eagles have struggled in recent weeks after a fast start, including giving up 287 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Dak Prescott last week. Manning still has elite targets to throw to and should be an average replacement option for teams looking for bye week replacements.

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 7, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs. Los Angeles
Eli Manning had a big game against the Ravens last week, putting up 403 yards and three touchdown passes. He finally delivered after a series of underwhelming performances to kick off the season. Eli also threw a pair of picks, but the team threw the ball 46 times, which was a good sign for fantasy owners who have held on to the veteran.

This week, Manning may not repeat his performance against the Rams. While the Rams gave up four touchdown passes to Matthew Stafford and the Lions last week, they’ve been above average the rest of the season against the pass and only allow 6.8 yards per pass attempt. The game is in London and with the inconsistency that Eli has shown, especially this year, fantasy owners should consider him a QB2 option and would likely be better off looking elsewhere.

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 6, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs. Baltimore
Eli Manning has really struggled this season. While he ranks seventh in the league in passing yards, he has only thrown five touchdown passes as the Giants offense has struggled to put up points. Last week, he had only 199 yards and a touchdown against the Packers beat up secondary, and he’s become a risky fantasy option week-to-week.

Manning faces a Baltimore team that has only given up 191 passing yard per game this year. They have given up nine touchdown passes, putting them in the bottom half of the league, but they’ve also got six picks this season. Expect Manning to continue to struggle, with probably low-end yardage, a touchdown or two and a pick. He should be considering a QB2 option in most leagues.

NYG QB Eli Manning - Week 5, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Green Bay
Eli Manning struggled as expected against a tough Minnesota defense last week. He threw the ball 45 times, but ended up with only 261 yards and an interception, without throwing a touchdown pass. Eli should still be a viable starter in most leagues, but he fell victim to a bad matchup in Week 4.

This week however, he’ll face a Packers defense that is 29th in the league in passing yards allowed per game and has a struggling secondary. Expect the Giants to throw the ball a lot to keep up with the high-powered Green Bay offense and for Eli to rebound as a result. We have him inside our top-10 this week, and he’s a viable option in all fantasy leagues.
