NYJ WR Eric Decker - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs Browns
Eric Decker had decent numbers last year considering he wasn't playing with Peyton Manning anymore. Of course, that is the main concern in New York. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is a wild card and definitely hurts Jets receivers' value. However, another factor is Decker will probably be the second option behind Brandon Marshall in the passing game. The question marks should keep Decker on your bench against a good Browns secondary in the opener.

NYJ WR Eric Decker - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The leading receiver for the Jets last season, Eric Decker should be helped by the arrival of Brandon Marshall, who will take some attention away from him. New offensive coordinator Chan Gailey will also help all the Jets receivers. Even in a down year, Decker put up decent numbers (74 catches for 962 yards, 5 TDs) in 2014 despite the Jets struggles.

Fantasy Downside
Quarterback play is the biggest issue in New York. It doesn't matter if it is Geno Smith or Ryan Fitzpatrick, the passing game has a lot of question marks coming from that position, and it could affect definitely Decker in a negative way.

Bottom Line
Decker is a solid receiver who can put up big numbers in the right situation (see, Denver). But the Jets offense is questionable even with Brandon Marshall and Gailey's arrival. Decker has an ADP of 92, which reflect the concerns about the Jets, not him. If he is your WR3, Decker is a good pick. Otherwise, he might be a reach considering the circumstances.

NYJ WR Eric Decker - Week 17, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17: Decker vs Dolphins

After a 100-yard receiving performance two weeks ago, Eric Decker only had two catches last week against New England. The Jets best wide receiver has really been limited by the quarterback issues.

Decker will face the Dolphins, who he had two catches against in the first meeting earlier this season. Miami is 20th in aFPA to wide receivers, but even that favorable matchup will not get Decker into your starting lineup. Keep him on the bench for Week 17.

NYJ WR Eric Decker - Week 16, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16: Decker vs Patriots

Eric Decker is healthy and the evidence is back-to-back solid performances. He has caught 13 passes and been targeted 19 times. He has not scored a touchdown, but 189 yards receiving over that stretch is impressive considering the Jets passing game this season.

Decker will face the Patriots this week who are 8th in aFPA to wide receivers. In the first meeting this season, Decker caught four passes for 64 yards. Decker only rates a low-end WR3 because of the matchup and QB situation, but still has fringe value because of the recent success the past couple weeks.

NYJ WR Eric Decker - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15: Decker vs Titans

Eric Decker had 89 yards receiving last week which was his highest total of the season. One reason for that was QB Geno Smith actually had a decent game. That's the problem with Decker and Jets' receivers in general. You are relying on Smith.

Decker could see increased targets this week with Percy Harvin shaky with a bad ankle. Another factor this Sunday is the Jets will run the ball a lot against a shaky Titans run defense. Tennessee is only 23rd in aFPA to wide receivers so Decker has some value as a WR3 or flex for Week 15.

NYJ WR Eric Decker - Week 14, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14: Decker vs Vikings

Eric Decker was only targeted four times on Monday which produced two catches. Before you say that's a bad thing, QB Geno Smith only attempted 13 passes so almost a 1/3 were intended for Decker.

The Jets will be very conservative with their passing game so all the Jets receivers will be limited with their production. Decker will face the Vikings who are 4th in aFPA to wide receivers so combine that matchup with the Jets conservative, run-oriented offense and Decker should not be in your lineup for Week 14.

NYJ WR Eric Decker - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13: Decker vs Dolphins

Although Eric Decker has been a highly targeted receiver at times, the results have not been very good. He is averaging less than 5 catches per game and his season-high in yardage is 74 yards. He does have four touchdowns which isn't horrible, but the overall picture hasn't been pretty. He will get Geno Smith as his QB again this week as the Jets make the switch, not that it will help.

The Dolphins are 14th in aFPA to wide receivers so the matchup is neutral. That's not enough to help any of the Jets offensive skill players. Keep Decker on the bench for Week 13.
