Scouting report

IND TE Erik Swoope - 2018 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

Andrew Luck loves targeting his tight ends. He threw 12 TDs to them in 2016, and 29 in his career. That gives some upside to a Colts tight end.

Fantasy Downside

Swoope missed last season due to injury and looks to have been replaced by free agent signee Eric Ebron as the Colts' No. 2 TE.

2018 Bottom Line

Swoope is likely only going to be fantasy relevant if one of the Colts top two tight ends suffers an injury.

IND TE Erik Swoope - Week 17, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Jacksonville
The Colts are now splitting snaps between three tight ends, rendering none of them fantasy lineup considerations, including Week 17 at Jacksonville.

IND TE Erik Swoope - 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
The University of Miami basketball convert gets his first real chance at playing time in 2016 with the departure of Coby Fleener to New Orleans. Swoope (pronounced SWOPE) will compete with Jack Doyle for snaps behind Dwayne Allen.

Fantasy Downside
Swoope enters his third season with the Colts and hasn’t been anything more than a practice squad player, compared to Doyle who has been a consistent member of the active roster. It’s an uphill battle for Swoope, who admittedly does have more athletic ability than Doyle, but finds himself in a battle for a role that will likely require more blocking, given the other passing game weapons the Colts already have.

Bottom Line
The winner of the Doyle-Swoope competition is a name to keep in mind if Allen gets hurt in 2016, but neither is on the fantasy radar for 2016 drafts.
