NYJ QB Geno Smith - Week 15, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15: Smith vs Titans

Geno Smith actually threw for 254 yards last week and a touchdown. More important, only one INT. The Jets QB will get the starts the rest of the way so the team can see where they are going at the position.

The matchup isn't bad this week as Tennessee is 25th in aFPA to quarterbacks, but all that does is help Smith not be one of the worst fantasy quarterbacks for Week 15. Keep him on the bench despite the good performance last week against Minnesota.

Week 14: Smith vs Vikings

Back in the first half of the season, the Jets had Geno Smith throwing 43 passes per game. It wasn't a formula for winning. In his first game back as a starter, he threw 13 passes. They still didn't win, but it was close. That will be the formula for the Jets the rest of the season. Run the football and limit Smith's impact on the game.

Against the Vikings, who are 10th in aFPA to quarterbacks, the conservative game plan will continue which make Smith the worst fantasy quarterback option for Week 14. He shouldn't be anywhere near your roster let alone your starting lineup.

Week 13: Smith vs Dolphins

The Jets have inserted Geno Smith back in the starting lineup to see if he has a future with them. It makes sense, although Michael Vick seems to be the better choice to win games now. But Smith will have to prove to the Jets he deserves a chance to be the long-term quarterback or will help the team to move on in 2015 in another direction.

It's not exactly the best time to return for Smith who will face a Dolphins' defense that is 5th in aFPA to quarterbacks. They also force a ton of turnovers which has been Smith's Achilles heel. Don't even think about having Smith on your roster as he is the worst fantasy QB in the league right now.

Week 8: Smith vs Bills
Geno Smith was actually pretty good against the Pats last week, but can he be consistent? It's a big question. He will have some help, although limited, with the arrival of Percy Harvin, but it is an upgrade.

Smith was awful against the Bills in their two meetings last season. He threw for two touchdowns and five picks while completing only 46% of his passes. The Bills are a neutral play this week, ranked 15th in a FPA to quarterbacks. Smith doesn't even rate a QB2 in Week 8 so keep him on the bench.

Week 7: Smith vs. Patriots
Geno Smith played better last week although it's hard to believe the Jets want him throwing the ball 43 times. He threw two touchdown passes against the Broncos but had an interception for the sixth straight game.

Smith has not been very good this season, but it appears coach Rex Ryan is sticking with him. The Jets play division rival New England on Thursday and Smith was horrible in 2013 in the two meetings throwing four interceptions with only one touchdowns.

For Week 7, Smith is the worst quarterback play of the week. No reason for him to even be in the discussion.

Week 6: Smith vs. Broncos
Geno Smith was horrible last week and was pulled from the game. That alone should tell you where he stands with the Jets. Smith should not even be near a starting lineup for Week 6 against the Broncos.

NYJ QB Geno Smith - Week 5, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5: Smith vs. Chargers
Geno Smith threw an interception for the fourth straight game and his play is jeopardizing his job. Michael Vick is waiting in the wings, so Smith might not make it through the whole game on Sunday.

It doesn't help the Jets will be on the road against a good Chargers team. However, quarterbacks have done okay against San Diego's defense. Still, Smith should not be in your lineup because he might not be in the Jets soon.
