Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians told reporters Friday that RB Giovani Bernard (MCL) will not play Week 4 at New England.

Fantasy Impact: 

With the Bucs heavy favorites Bernard is probably not needed. Look for Leonard Fournette to take over pass-catching duties in the Tampa Bay backfield.

Bucs RB Giovani Bernard suffered a slight MCL sprain on his goal-line collision and flip against the Rams, per source.

Fantasy Impact: 

Bernard is considered day to day for Week 4 vs. Patriots and his status is to be determined, Pelissero said. Pelissero opines it's good news based on how painful that play looked. If Gio can't go, Jones and Fournette should see more time and snaps in the passing game. The Bucs haven't exactly been a run-heavy team, but the extra snaps in the passing game could bump both backs up the rankings a bit heading into Week 4.

Two weeks into the 2021 season, Ronald Jones continues to do things that could adjourn the Bucs’ run-by-committee approach.

“This is his third year, man,” coach Bruce Arians said Monday after the Bucs pulled out a 48-25 win over the Falcons. “It shouldn’t be a problem, and at times, it is.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Jones fumbled in Week 1 and in Week 2 got the start but was out-performed by Fournette. Jones, it seems, continues to shoot himself in the foot with mistakes on the field, the story said. The story said Fournette is ahead of Jones by any measure, with twice as many snaps (73-32), carries (20-10) and rushing yards (84-41), getting nine catches for 51 yards while Jones has a single 9-yard reception. The Bucs have had their success in the passing game so the numbers for any of their backs aren't impressive. Eventually, they are going to need to run the ball, and as of now, Fournette seems to be the safer fantasy play.

Bruce Arians says RB Ronald Jones will start against Atlanta.

Fantasy Impact: 

Jones' fumble cost him in Week 1 and Fournette took over much of the work after that with an occasional appearance from Bernard. While the matchup is good one against the Falcons, Jones is a bit of a risky play because Fournette and Bernard will likely still have some role, but it looks like the team is giving Jones another shot.
