Scouting report

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 16, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs Denver

Giovani Bernard has 18 touches last week, the most since Week 5. He also has an edge in snaps over Jeremy Hill. As we have said many times, the numbers seem to fluctuate with these two and are not very predictable.

It's an unfavorable matchup for Week 16 against Denver who is ranked 10th in aFPA to running backs. Bernard should still see a decent amount of carries, but of course he is always a better PPR option than Hill. Start Bernard as a flex or RB3 as we expect him to continue to split time in the backfield.

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 15, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at San Francisco

Giovani Bernard had the edge this week in the ongoing fantasy drama between him and Jeremy Hill. Bernard played 66 percent of the snaps, but still only had nine touches for 67 as the Bengals played catch-up.

The matchup for Week 15 favors the Bengals as the San Francisco is 31st in aFPA to running backs. However, that stat probable favors Hill who usually gets more carries. Bernard still has value but only as a high-end RB3 or flex.

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 14, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs Pittsburgh

Giovani Bernard had problems getting on the field (33 percent of the offensive snaps) and producing anything on offense (35 yard from scrimmage). This doesn't necessarily indicate what's going to happen every week with the Bengals backfield as it has been a volatile situation all season. (Bernard still has the overall advantage in snaps).

It might not matter much this week, as the Steelers have been very good against opposing running backs, ranked 5th in aFPA. With the uncertainty of snaps and touches and an unfavorable matchup, Bernard only rates an RB3 or flex for Week 14.

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs Browns
We are always keeping an eye on the snaps for Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. It has been all over the board this season, but this week it was pretty even. However, Bernard had less touches and yardage last week which has not been the norm. But over the last six games, Bernard has only averaged 11 touches total per game.

Even though it is a good matchup in Week 13 as Cleveland is 26th in aFPA to running backs, the lack of touches Bernard gets every week kills his value. Start him as only a high-end RB3 or flex against the Browns.

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs St. Louis
Giovani Bernard played 68 percent of the snaps last week, but only rushed six times for 18 yards. However, he did catch eight passes for 128 yards, making him a star in PPR leagues and a good play in standard leagues last Sunday.

It continues to be challenging trying to predict the running back situation for Cincy. A Jeremy Hill fumble didn't help his cause, although he still was the leading rusher for the Bengals. The matchup this week for Bernard is favorable, as the Rams are 24th in aFPA to running backs. But the volume is so volatile and the carries sparse that Bernard only ranks a high-end RB3 or flex for Week 12.

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Arizona

It looked like the Bengals might start to split the snaps between Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill, but last week Bernard played 72 percent compared to 29 percent for Hill. It's hard to predict who is going to get what and the only thing we do know is Bernard is more valuable in PPR leagues week-in and week-out. Bernard only has 36 yard rushing, but did have five receptions for 43. One other thing to keep in mind is Bernard only has two touchdowns this season.

For Week 11, the Cardinals are the opponent and they are 12th in aFPA to running backs, which is not an advantage either way. Bernard rates a low-end RB2 this week, mainly because he got the amount of snaps he did last week.

CIN RB Giovani Bernard - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs Houston

Pretty much everything is getting split between Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. The snaps were fairly even last week, as were the touches. It's hard to predict who will have the better stats week-to-week as it has fluctuated throughout the season. Bernard's numbers are decent considering he splitting time, and overall, he is putting up better stats -- especially in PPR leagues.

It's a great matchup this week for Bernard as the Texans are 29th in aFPA to running backs, but the fact he will split time will keep him ranked a solid RB2 for Week 10.
