BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Cleveland Browns

Marquise Brown has been wildly inconsistent this season, even when healthy, but he did catch a touchdown last week, his seventh of the season. Brown ended up with 45 yards on four catches in a blowout win over the Jets last Thursday night, which was a relief after gaining negative-one yard over his previous two games combined. Despite his inconsistency, he has shown long-term potential as a playmaker and as a potential WR1. He leads all Ravens wide receivers in targets, receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, making him the only wide receiver in Baltimore worth rostering in most fantasy leagues.

This week, Brown faces a Cleveland defense that played fairly well earlier in the season but has really struggled lately, especially since Myles Garrett was suspended for at least the remainder of the year. They’re tied for 18th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, giving Brown some upside in what should be a pretty good matchup. He’s always a boom-bust option in general, but he’s a quality gamble this week as a risky WR3 option in most leagues.

BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

Marquise Brown was bitterly disappointing last week against the Bills. He finished with three catches and minus-two yards on the day. He now has a total of four catches on five targets for minus-one yard over his last two games combined. Brown is a high risk-reward player who will need to show some consistency before he can be counted on week-to-week.

The Jets rank 22nd in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season, so there’s some upside for Brown to rebound this week. Still, he remains a boom-bust option in any given week and should be started with caution. He’s best suited as a high-risk WR3 option in large leagues.

BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Buffalo Bills

Marquise Brown was wildly disappointing last week, catching just one of the two balls thrown his way for one yard. Brown has been a bit feast or famine this year, with six touchdowns on the season but only one game over 100 yards. While he’s a big-play threat and has the potential to score on any play, the Ravens have mostly been using him to keep the defense honest while emphasizing their power rushing attack. Don’t expect that to change too dramatically.

This week, Brown is risky against a tough Bills defense. Buffalo ranks ninth in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this year, and the Ravens are unlikely to deviate too much from their winning formula of running the ball and throwing to their three tight ends. Brown is a WR3 option at best, but should be left on the bench in most fantasy leagues in favor of someone with a little higher floor.

BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Marquise Brown had five catches for 42 yards last week in a complete dismantling of the Rams. He also found the end zone twice as the Ravens won easily 45-6. Brown has been touchdown-or-bust for much of the season, only catching more than four passes twice all year and only eclipsing 100 yards once. He does have six touchdowns though, giving him some potential every week.

The 49ers rank seventh in the league in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season, so it’ll be a difficult task for the Ravens to keep up their blistering pace on offense. Expect a tough and physical game that may be decided by a big defensive play. Brown has some boom-bust potential because of his big-play ability, but in such a tough matchup, he should be considered a risky WR3 at best.

BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Los Angeles Rams

Marquise Brown gained only 23 yards last week on a pair of receptions in what should’ve been a great matchup against the Texans. Ultimately, however, the Ravens stomped Houston 41-7, reducing the need for Brown to have much of an impact. He remains a boom-or-bust option in most weeks with upside as the best playmaker in Baltimore – Lamar Jackson aside.

This week, Brown is a fringe WR3 option against a Rams defense that has one of the premier cornerbacks in the league in Jalen Ramsey. The Rams held the Bears to just seven points last week, and Chicago’s top receiver Allen Robinson gained only 15 yards on four receptions. Brown has upside, but in a tough matchup, he should be considered a risky all-or-nothing WR3 option in most leagues.

BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Houston Texans

Marquise Brown caught four passes for 80 yards and a touchdown last week against the Bengals in a lopsided victory. Brown has four targets in each of his past two games since returning from injury and he’s clearly the top fantasy wide receiver in Baltimore. His numbers aren’t stellar, but he has the potential to break a big play on any snap and has fantasy value as a risk/reward fringe WR2 in most weeks. He’s immensely talented.

This week, Brown should do well against a Texans defense that has struggled against the pass this year. Only the Raiders, Jets and Buccaneers rank lower in aFPA to opposing wide receivers this season. While Houston has recently made strides to upgrade their cornerback positions, this should still be an excellent matchup for the speedy Brown, who has borderline WR1 upside this week and should be active in all leagues.

BAL WR Marquise Brown - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Cincinnati Bengals

Marquise Brown returned to action against the Patriots last week and caught three of the four balls thrown his way for 48 yards. Brown has shown flashes of the talent he brings to the team this year, but with the Ravens’ emphasis on running the ball, he hasn’t gotten the volume to be consistently productive. Still, he has upside in the right matchups.

This week, Brown faces a struggling Bengals team that ranks 19th in aFPA to opposing wide receivers, which should bode well for the rookie speedster. It’s possible the Ravens get up early and abandon the passing game altogether, but fantasy owners should still consider Brown a high-upside fringe WR2 option with some added potential in quick-strike league formats.
