Scouting report

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Tennessee Titans

Hunter Henry managed 7.0 Half-PPR points last week and averages just a tick more than that on a per-game basis this season, good for TE14. He is getting by on volume more than anything else, and whoever lines up at quarterback for the Patriots has precious few alternatives than Henry against the Titans in Week 9. The Titans rank ninth in aFPA to tight ends this season, but Henry can be a workload-based TE2 option, and maybe someone you could consider streaming.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 8 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8 vs New York Jets

Hunter Henry has emerged as the focal point of the Patriots passing game, which has made him more than useful in fantasy terms. Henry was the TE9 a week ago, and his 6.8 Half-PPR points per game is enough for him to sit at TE14 for the season. He doesn’t have a great matchup against the Jets who rank ninth in aFPA to tight ends, but if he continues to dominant the targets in the passing game then he should meet – and possible exceed – his projection as the TE17 in Week 8.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Jacksonville Jaguars (in London)

Hunter Henry was another Patriots pass catcher who benefitted from the switch to Drake Maye. Henry was able to post 11.6 Half-PPR points on his way to a TE8 finish in Week 6. Henry is currently the TE16 in points per game.

Henry should be able to produce another game with fantasy-relevant production against the Jaguars in Week 7. The Jaguars rank 29th in aFPA to tight ends in 2024, keeping Henry in play as a streaming option at the tight end spot this week

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Houston Texans

Hunter Henry’s 5.2 Half PPR points per game average is bolstered by one very good game and four duds in 2024. No one feels good about starting him, or any pass catcher on the Patriots.

Henry might receive a slight boost if the Patriots allow Drake Maye, making his first career start, to air the ball a bit. But pinning our tight end hopes on a player with a rookie quarterback playing against a Texans team that ranks fourth in aFPA to tight ends this season seems like extreme wish casting. Still, the state of the tight end landscape means that Henry can still be viewed as a borderline TE2 for this week.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. Miami Dolphins

Hunter Henry, at one point an absolute target magnet for the Patriots this season, managed two receptions for 12 yards in Week 4, giving him 2.2 Half PPR points. Henry has three games this season with less than 3.0 Half PPR points and one with 14.9. That is beginning to look like a serious outlier. Henry was outgained by Austin Hooper in Week 4 (13-12) with Hooper also finding the endzone.

With four teams on a bye and a host of top-tier tight ends struggling, it's hard to write Henry off completely as a fantasy asset. Although the matchup this week with the Dolphins is not looking promising, with the Dolphins ranking eighth in aFPA to tight ends. Maybe Henry can sneak a touchdown this week and put himself in low-end TE1 airspace. Maybe.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Patriots only attempted 26 passes against the Jets, but a two-catch-nine-yard outing for Hunter Henry was a disappointing outcome given his dominance of the targets in the weeks leading up to the game. Henry finished with just 1.9 Half PPR points and was behind 37 other tight ends in weekly scoring.

Tight ends have gotten absolutely nothing out of the 49ers so far this season, and it seems unlikely that this will change in Week 4. The best Henry managers can hope for is a mid-level TE2 outing, but some managers may take that given the current tight end landscape.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at. New York Jets

Hunter Henry dominated the receiving work for the Patriots in Week 2, commanding a 50% target share on his way to 8 receptions for 109 yards. Henry finished as the TE3.

The Jets have only given up nine receptions for 69 yards to tight ends through two games, but Henry’s command of the opportunities should be enough to keep him somewhat fantasy relevant. He’s a good streaming option if in need of help at the position.
