Scouting report

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Week 1 of the 2024 season was not a great one for tight ends, from a real-life or fantasy point of view. Hunter Henry was no exception to this rule. Henry saw three targets and caught two for just 18 scoreless yards against the Bengals, finishing with 2.8 Half PPR points and a TE26 finish for the week.

Henry has some streaming appeal this week with a game against the Seahawks on the horizon, but not much. The Seahawks allowed just two receptions for 12 yards to Broncos tight ends a week ago. A negative game situation might see the Patriots attempt a few more passes than they'd like, but it would be hard to imagine Henry as anything above a low-end TE2 this week.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Cincinnati Bengals

Hunter Henry should be an active part of the Patriots passing game in 2024, which we should celebrate even if the passing game isn't something we want to get too excited about from a fantasy point of view. Still, he could make some fantasy noise in Week 1 against a Bengals team that could not stop tight ends in 2023. The Bengals gave up the most receptions and second most yards to the position last season and ranked 31st in aFPA. Henry could have some streamer appeal in deeper leagues, but it's hard to see him amassing more than mid-level TE2 numbers.

NE TE Hunter Henry - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Hunter Henry put up pretty normal Hunter Henry numbers in 2023 as perhaps the most reliable option in an unreliable passing attack. He commanded three receptions per game, amassing 42 grabs for 419 yards and six touchdowns, but set a new career-low with 10.0 yards per grab. Henry was the TE17 in half-PPR formats last season.

The Patriots passing attack is not terrifying anyone this season, a result of personnel and question marks over the quarterback. Henry will probably have weeks where you would consider him a viable matchup-based streamer, but he isn't someone you NEED to roster immediately. Henry seems like the ideal poster boy for mid-tier TE2 production in 2024.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Buffalo Bills

Hunter Henry is trying to come back after missing the Week 16 win in Denver with a knee injury. He did return to practice but could be limited throughout and into the game. Keep an eye on the practice report Friday to get a better gauge on his situation.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Denver Broncos

Hunter Henry is still recovering from his knee injury he suffered in Week 15, just as he was building back momentum. He has seven catches for 66 yards and a touchdown against Kansas City before leaving. Keep an eye on the practice report for Friday. If he can’t go, it could open up an opportunity for Mike Gesicki.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Hunter Henry broke out of his slump, somewhat, against the Steelers in Week 14 with two touchdown catches. The Patriots really don’t have too many other options, so Henry gets some targets — but not a lot — almost by default. Henry remains a TE2 due to the lack of offense surrounding him and his lack of targets. If the Patriots get into the red zone however, keep an eye out for him.

NE TE Hunter Henry - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Pittsburgh Steelers

The struggles continue for Hunter Henry, even with the quarterback switch. Henry saw four targets from Bailey Zappe in the 6-0 loss to the Chargers. He caught two for 15 yards. If you’re starting Henry at this point, you’re praying for a touchdown. Maybe it happens Thursday. He’s a low-end TE2 against the Steelers on a short week with a bad offense.
