Fantasy Upside

After spending all his rookie sidelined with an ankle injury, Jace Sternberger has a clear path to fantasy production 2020. At 6’4” and 250 pounds, Sternberger has the requisite size to immediately step into a red zone threat role as an already shoddy receiving group behind Davante Adams lacks the size to make a difference in the endzone.

Fantasy Downside

Still essentially a rookie, TEs at this stage in their careers historically do not produce good numbers. Even more so, Sternberger has not built chemistry with QB Aaron Rodgers, a crucial piece in the play caller’s target distribution. His overall lack of time on an NFL field will also play a role for Sternberger, so even if he does get a starting role, he might not account for a lot of targets.

2020 Bottom Line

With 115 targets up for grabs from last season, Sternberger should have every opportunity to gain a meaningful role in the Green Bay offense. We currently have Sternberger ranked 24th amongst tight ends and his current ADP in 12-team leagues has him going in the beginning of round 20. Certainly worth a late-round flier, Sternberger will most likely begin his NFL career as a TE streamer.
