Fantasy Upside
Denver’s backup TE was targeted 25 times last season, leading to 20 catches for 184 yards and a score. In two seasons with the Broncos Jacob Tamme has played in every contest and has earned the trust of Peyton Manning, whom he also played with for three seasons in Indianapolis.
Fantasy Downside
With the emergence of Julius Thomas, Tamme was an afterthought in the Broncos passing game in ’13. After being the main TE in ’12 in which he recorded 55 receptions, Jacob’s playing time and looks took a big drop. The emergence of Thoms will again lead to him being the main TE in the offense, limiting Tamme’s playing time and targets.
Bottom Line
With Denver’s potent passing game Jacob is a nice fill-in if Thomas gets injured, but the veteran out of Kentucky isn’t expected to be much of a factor again this season. Tamme should not be on your roster unless you claim him via free agency if Julius has some health issues that will cost him playing time.
