Fantasy Upside
When Jalen Hurts became the starter in Week 14, he made an immediate fantasy impact. He threw for 300+ yards in two of his starts and also rushed for 106 yards in his first game as a starter. For the four starts, he rushed for 272 yards. Fantasy quarterbacks give bonus value when they can run the ball like Hurts and elevates his overall value. With Carson Wentz shipped out to Indy, there is no doubt Hurts is the starter and will get all the snaps as long as he stays healthy. And the Eagles got him some help drafting DeVonta Smith with their first pick.
Fantasy Downside
Like most young quarterbacks, Hurts will have to make sure he takes care of the ball. He also will have to show more accuracy overall as he completed only 52% of his passes last season. There will be some growing pains as Hurts only had four career starts so basically 2021 will be a continuation of his rookie season.
Bottom Line
The rushing yards make Hurts a low-end QB1. But if you do draft him around the seventh or eighth round, make sure you get a reliable backup in case Hurts does stumble. Projected stats are 4,514 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and 19 interceptions. Expect around 700 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. The big arm Hurts has should make him a legit big-play quarterback.
