Scouting report

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs Washington
Jason Witten had two catches for 14 yards last Sunday. Those numbers were low for Witten who has been around the four or five reception mark on a weekly basis.

The Redskins are up next and are ranked 29th in aFPA to tight ends. Witten had four catches for 25 yards in the first meeting earlier this season. We expect similar numbers for Week 17 but that ranks him as a TE2 so keep him on the bench.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at Philadelphia
Jason Witten scored his second touchdown in the past three games. However, he still only had four catches for 36 yards.

Witten will face the Eagles who are 16th in aFPA to tight ends. Witten really has shown signs of having a big game so since the matchup is neutral, keep Witten on the bench as a low-end TE2. He had four catches for 33 yards against the Eagles earlier this season. Expect to see something similar.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Los Angeles Rams
Jason Witten has been quiet in recent weeks including last game where he had five catches for 37 yards. The PPR leagues owners are happy, but the standard league owners continue to get limited production.

Witten faces the Rams next who are 14th in aFPA to tight ends. We expect to see more of the same from the veteran tight end. Keep him on the bench in both standard and PPR leagues although he does have more value in PPR leagues, but not enough to get past being ranked a TE2.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Chicago
Jason Witten has been quiet for most of the season, but had one of his best games last week against Buffalo. He ended up with six receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown. It was only his third touchdown of the season.

Witten faces the Bears who are fifth in aFPA to tight ends. That tough matchup with the way Witten has performed most of the season puts him on the bench for Week 14. His fantasy value is a low-end TE2 at best.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs New England
Jason Witten had five receptions for 33 yards last week. Those numbers continue to be consistent. The major difference in Witten from the past is the lack of red zone opportunities. He only has two touchdowns this season.

Witten will face a tough New England defense that is ranked 6th in aFPA to tight ends. He should not be in your lineup for Week 12 as he ranks a low-end TE2 in standard leagues and a solid TE2 in PPR leagues. There are better options this week as the Patriots defense has been the best all season.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Detroit
It was a big passing day for the Dallas offense, but Jason Witten wasn't one of the beneficiaries as he only had two receptions for 17 yards. One thing that has been lacking overall is red zone touches as Witten has not scored a touchdown since Week 2.

It's a favorable matchup for the veteran tight end this week against Detroit. The Lions are 22nd in aFPA to tight ends. But every skill position is favorable this week as Detroit's overall defense is not good. Keep Witten on the bench as he should get his normal numbers. That ranks him as a low-end TE2.

DAL TE Jason Witten - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs Minnesota
Jason Witten had a season-high eight receptions last Monday and it was the first time he had more than five in a game since his return. The 58 receiving yards were also a season-high as he is playing as a possession tight end so he isn't making any big plays.

It will be a tough matchup for Witten against the Vikings who are third in aFPA to tight ends. He ranks a low-end TE2 in standard leagues but a high-end TE2 in PPR leagues. If you are in a PPR league, you could consider giving him a start although Minnesota's defense might discourage that.
