PIT RB Jaylen Warren - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Despite a bevy of positive offseason headlines, Jaylen Warren has only seen his ADP tick up from 90.9 to 88.3 since April. Warren will benefit from Arthur Smith's new run-heavy scheme and from his philosophy of using his running backs out of the backfield on passing downs. Combine that with Russell Wilson's new-found love of check downs and you're looking at a very positive situation for someone coming off the board at RB27. He's also one of the most efficient running backs in the league as he's top 10 in yards per attempt, yards after contact, broken tackle + missed tackle percentage, and is top 15 in first down rate.

Fantasy Downside
However, the downside could come from similar factors. The offensive personnel decisions from Arthur Smith have been quite questionable. There's also the issue of Justin Fields. Should Fields take over, Warren will take a more significant hit than Harris.

2024 Bottom Line
Warren is an analytical darling and now has a scheme that could highlight him even more. It also helps that, for now, the Steelers have a quarterback in Wilson that will check it down and the lack of receiving talent around WR George Pickens to command targets. At RB27, Warren is a strong buy in all formats, with some sites having his ADP even lower.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Seattle Seahawks
Jaylen Warren's carries in the running game remain low as Najee Harris has been getting more of the workload. Warren rushed eight times for 24 yards. However, his fantasy value is still there with his involvement in the passing game. He had five receptions for 50 yards last Saturday.

Warren faces a weak Seattle run defense so we expect him to get some numbers if he gets 15 touches, Start Warren for Week 17 as a low-end RB3 or Flex.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
After a couple off weeks, Jaylen Warren was back to 15 touches again. He ended the day with 68 total yards and it seems he remains the preference for the Steelers in the backfield even though Najee Harris is still involved.

Warren faces the Bengals who are ranked 13th in aFPA to running backs. He had 16 touches for 62 yards the first time Pittsburgh met Cincy this season. It seems the Steelers are still dedicated to running the football, especially with their quarterback situation.

Start Warren as a RB3 or Flex for Week 16. He has been a consistent fantasy producer this season even though he is splitting time, but that also lowers his ranking to that spot.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Indianapolis Colts
Jaylen Warren's touches have been down in recent weeks as Najee Harris has resumed his No. 1 running back role. Last week, Warren had only 40 total yards and most of those came in the passing game.

Warren faces the Colts who are ranked 32nd in aFPA to running backs. The Steelers want to run the ball and maybe they will try to get him back involved after two straight losses to two bad teams.

Start Warren as an RB3 or Flex for Week 15. We expect at least 12 touches this week and with a favorable matchup, the fantasy numbers to be higher.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. New England Patriots
Jaylen Warren's touches dropped to 10 last Sunday, but he still averaged 6.6 yard per carry. He wasn't involved as much in the passing game as he has been. He basically is splitting time with Najee Harris and although Harris has been getting more carries, Warren's receptions raise his stock.

Warren faces the Pats who are ranked seventh in aFPA to running backs. They have been good against the run with the Steelers changing quarterbacks, we will have to wait to see if the new offensive coordinator changes anything from the past two weeks.

Start Warren for Week 14, but only as a RB3 or Flex. He has put up great numbers but the volume isn't always there.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Jaylen Warren continued to play well with 16 touches for 62 yards. He actually was outrushed by teammate Najee Harris, but still is more of a target in the passing game which helps his fantasy stock. The two of them will continue to get playing time so each one is capable of a big game.

Warren faces the Cardinals who are ranked 32nd in aFPA to running backs. The Steelers offense was much better last week with their new offensive coordinator and play caller.

Start Warren as an RB2 for Week 13 and remember he is even more valuable in PPR leagues. With the matchup, it could be a big day for the second-year back.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cincinnati Bengals
Jaylen Warren has become the man in the Steelers running game. Over the last three games, he has rushed 35 times for 318 yards while adding eight receptions for 50 yards. He has passed Najee Harris in the fantasy rankings and on the Pittsburgh depth chart.

Warren will face the Bengals who are ranked 17th in aFPA to running backs. The problem for the Steelers is we still don't know about QB Kenny Pickett and whether he can run this offense efficiently. Pittsburgh did fire OC Matt Canada so we will see some changes.

Start Warren as a solid RB3 or Flex for Week 12. That is not really a reflection of him as his ceiling is much higher. We don't trust the Steelers offense.
