Scouting report

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Las Vegas Raiders
Jaylen Warren's stock is rising, especially in PPR leagues. He has only rushed for 26 yards, but has nine receptions for 78 yards. The Steelers offensive line hasn't been good yet and that has affected Najee Harris. So Warren could get some more opportunities.

The Raiders are up next and are ranked 29th in aFPA to running backs. It's a good chance for the Steelers offense to get healthy.

Warren does have fantasy value. Start him as a RB3 or Flex for Week 3. He should get 10 touches this week and more in the passing game.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Cleveland Browns
The Steelers abandoned the run game after getting into a hole last Sunday so Jaylen Warren was held to 18 total yards on eight touches in the opener. He did get playing time with 40% of the snaps so he will be a part of the offense each week which was expected.

Warren has a tough matchup against the Browns and even though he should still be on a fantasy roster, there is not much value this week with the way Pittsburgh played last week. Keep him on the bench for Week 2.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Jaylen Warren was an undrafted rookie who earned the backup running back spot last season and will continue that role this season. He will get his share of snaps and will have some production most weeks.

However, he faces the 49ers who had the best run defense in the NFL last season and that should be the case again in 2023. Keep Warren on the bench for Week1 , but he will have some value certain weeks.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jaylen Warren finished the 2022 season with 77 carries for 379 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but his real value came catching the ball out of the backfield with 28 receptions for 214 yards for the Steelers. He went from undrafted free agent to a legit backup for Pittsburgh. The Steelers have confidence he can take on a heavier workload if needed.

Fantasy Downside
He still is the backup to a premier running back in Najee Harris. Unless Harris gets hurt or regresses, Warren's touches will be limited. Opportunity will be his biggest challenge because he has performed when he has gotten his chances.

2023 Bottom Line
Warren will be used on third downs this season but that's not enough to warrant a starting job on your team. He is good depth and a good handcuff for Harris. He should get around 125-150 touches and is a good pickup if you can get him in the later rounds, especially in PPR leagues.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Jaylen Warren had a season-high 11 carries and added a pass reception for 49 total yards. The Steelers relied heavily on the running game so Warren was a big part of the offense last week against Carolina.

Warren will face the worst run defense in the NFL this week so we should see some more action from him, but not enough to warrant a fantasy start for Week 16.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Baltimore Ravens
After a recent run of productive games, Jaylen Warren has struggled with an injury and less action due to Najee Harris finding his groove. Warren still gets his share of touches, but against a Baltimore run defense that is very good, we don't expect much from him this week.

Keep Warren on the bench for Week 14 unless Harris has a setback with his health.

PIT RB Jaylen Warren - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at Atlanta Falcons
Jaylen Warren missed last week's game but will be back to face Atlanta. Starter Najee Harris is not expected to play and Warren had been his backup all season. This will be his first chance to start a game as the No. 1 running back. However, Benny Snell ran well last week and should also see some time.

Warren will face the Falcons who are ranked 24th in aFPA to running backs. With the favorable matchup and the fact the Steelers have run the ball better in recent weeks, Warren should have some good fantasy numbers.

Start him as a low-end RB2 for Week 13. When he has gotten the ball, he has run well and now he will get the touches with Harris out.
