Commanders place J.D. McKissic on IR, ending his season

Commanders RB J.D. McKissic was placed on injured reserve Saturday by the Commanders and his season is over.

Fantasy Impact:

McKissic has been out with a neck injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Colts and the injury will require months of rehab. Antonio Gibson was starting to take over the third-down role for Washington and now it’s a clear two-back group with him and Brian Robinson. McKissic has one year left on his 2-year contract he signed with the team in March.

Week 9 vs. Minnesota Vikings

J.D. McKissic ran the ball twice for six yards last week, and caught three passes for 14 yards on five targets. McKissic averaged 4.8 receptions for 30.5 yards in the four games before Brian Robinson returned, and has averaged 2.0 receptions for 12.8 yards in the four games since. Washington has been utilizing Antonio Gibson out of the backfield more with Robinson handling ground duties, leaving scraps left for McKissic. There just aren't enough touches for McKissic at this point to make him someone worth playing in fantasy.
