RB Jerick McKinnon in uniform and practicing for first time since 2-practice cameo couple weeks ago.

Fantasy Impact: 

McKinnon was just about a lock for the IR in some form according to many. He could still be an IR-return candidate if the 9ers put him there after cuts. Either way, McKinnon will have some catching up to do, so at least for now he's still safely behind Breida and Coleman.

Shanahan said a slew of 49ers are on tap to return to practice this week: Among them is Jerick McKinnon.

Fantasy Impact: 

Some who follow the team thought McKinnon could start the year on the IR, but this is at least a sign there's a chance he plays sooner than later. Still, owners will have to deal with Coleman and Breida ahead of him as far as fantasy production goes.

49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) is not expected to rejoin team drills this week — only individual work.

Fantasy Impact: 

As the tweet added, it’s been 17 days since he underwent a PRP procedure. McKinnon could return to team drills next week, some speculate, but others believe he could end up on IR to begin the year. Breida and Coleman will carry the load to start the season.

49ers RB Jerick McKinnon’s knee was not feeling good after working the past two days. He’ll be shut down for a while. He can’t go back on PUP. If he’s slow to recover, the only option would be to start season on IR and come back later in the season.

UPDATE: Jerick McKinnon (knee) is having a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment. He’ll have two weeks to recover, then 18 days after that before Week 1 of the regular season. “If he’s ready, that would be great,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. “If not, we’ll be patient with him.”

Fantasy Impact: 

Jerick McKinnon is now too far behind in his rehab to have any chance of seeing work early in the season and appears close to going on IR or being let go with an injury settlement. Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida are now the clear cut No. 1 and 2 backs, giving both of them fantasy value in a strong offense for their skill-sets.
