John Conner gained fame with his “Terminator” moniker on Hard Knocks with the Jets, but since then he’s been bouncing around as a traditional fullback in a league that has progressively moved away from the traditional fullback position. He’ll be looking to win the job in New York to pave the way for free agent acquisition Rashad Jennings in 2014.
Conner is a powerful runner with some small goal line potential, but he has yet distinguish himself in his career as a viable runner or receiver. In the three seasons he’s played in, Conner has only caught 10 balls total for 49 yards, and he’s only carried the ball 21 times for 88 yards. He has scored a pair of touchdowns in his career, but that’s the most value he’s provided as a fantasy option.
Conner may or may not win the job in New York, and the Giants could always use him differently than he’s been used in the past. However, the smart money is that even if he wins the starting job, he’ll be primarily a lead blocker, with a ceiling of 10-20 yards per game and a couple of scores all season. He has no fantasy value at this point.
Update:
Conner did not make the final 53 man roster, meaning Henry Hynoski is healthy. Hynoski has about the same value Conner did, though he's a slightly better receiver. Not worth drafting on most leagues.
