Scouting report

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 13, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New England
Jordan Matthews caught three balls for 60 yards last week and added his third TD of the season. He was targeted just five times and is averaging just under five targets over the last three games - which happens to be when Mark Sanchez took over at QB. That compares to an average of about nine targets a game when Sam Bradford was under center. And, Bradford could be back this week which seemingly gives a boost to Matthews. But Matthews is far down our list as a WR3 play - at best. The Patriots are 12th in allowing fantasy points to WRs, so, it's not a great matchup. But, the Birds are expected to have to throw a lot in this game.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 12, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Detroit
Jordan Matthews caught just four balls for 13 yards on four targets last week. After busting out in Week 9, he's totaled just seven catches for 34 yards on nine targets his last two games. The Eagles offense is a bit of a mess to say the least and even as the team's top WR threat, it's tough to trust Matthews as anything other than a WR3 fantasy option (which is about where he falls this week on our list). The Eagles play the Lions who are 16th in allowing fantasy points to WRs, so it's only an average matchups and the Lions have played pretty well on defense the last two weeks.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 11, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Tampa Bay
Jordan Matthews caught just three balls for 21 yards last week on five targets. It followed a monster game of 9-133-1 (12) line from the week before. It appeared Matthews was back on track, but last week's performance wasn't an impressive one. This week, Matthews again falls in line as a lower-end WR2 option. The good news is Mark Sanchez takes over at QB and the two formed a nice connection last year that really helped to put Matthews on the fantasy radar.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 10, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs Miami

Last week, Jordan Matthews finally gave owners what they were expecting all season - he caught nine balls for 133 yards and the game-winning TD catch in overtime. He was also targeted 12 times. Matthews had been suffering from drops since Week 1, but came through with a big performance last week. It was his first 100-yard game since opening week.

This week, he gets the Dolphins, who are 18th in allowing fantasy points to WRs. Matthews gets a low-end WR2 ranking this week, but still remains Sam Bradford's top target. He certainly has the potential to exceed his ranking again this week, but the Birds could also go with a run-heavy attack as the Fins are 32nd in allowing fantasy points to RBs.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 9, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Dallas
Jordan Matthews caught just three balls for 14 yards on seven targets before the bye. Drops continue to plague the Eagles, but especially Matthews. The 3-14-0 line is his lowest of the season and this week, he has a tough matchup against the Cowboys, who are fourth in allowing fantasy points to WRs. Matthews comes in just 30th in our wide receiver rankings, and is a risky play given the struggles around him and the Eagles offense.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 7, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 at Carolina

Jordan Matthews had six catches for 59 yards last week and was targeted 11 times. He's averaging six catches a game for 64 yards a game, which is much lower than what owners hoped for when he was drafted with high expectations back in the fall.

Matthews falls down our rankings to more of a WR3 play has a tough matchup this week against the Panthers, who are fifth in allowing fantasy points to WRs. He's the team's top WR, but the passing game just isn't putting up the kind of numbers we thought it would. Temper your expectations of Matthews until this passing attack hopefully gets going.

PHI WR Jordan Matthews - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 vs Dallas

Jordan Matthews caught five balls for 44 yards last week on seven targets. He continues to drop passes though. Matthews' owners probably expected a lot more from him at this point of the season, especially after a very nice start to the year.

This week, Matthews gets the Giants at home on Monday night. The G-men are 17th in allowing fantasy points to WRs. Last week, the Eagles used more two-TE sets and as a result Matthews snaps dropped to 70 percent after averaging about 85 percent this season. He drops in our rankings a little bit too and is more of a lower-end WR2 option. The Eagles offense continues to look better despite some inconsistencies, so there is some hope for Matthews' owners that a break-out game is coming soon.
