Fantasy Upside
In his rookie season, Jordan Matthews ended up with a 67-872-8 line last year. Many of the yards and TDs came from about the mid-point of the season on, and he seemed to excel after Nick Foles went down with an injury and Mark Sanchez took over. With Jeremy Maclin out of the picture, one can argue Matthews is the team’s most talented WR heading into the season. With a full year under his belt and a chance for more playing time, Matthews should be able to put up a lot of fantasy points in Chip Kelly’s high-paced offense.
Fantasy Downside
Matthews' success is going to get him a lot of attention from defenses. With Nelson Agholor just a rookie and Riley Cooper not much of a threat, Matthews is the guy opponents will likely watch, at least early on this season. Matthews worked well with Sanchez but the Birds hope to have a new signal caller in Sam Bradford, and right now it’s unclear how well these guys will click.
Bottom Line
Matthews is ranked 19th among our WRs heading into camps. While he displayed flashes of talent last year and should improve this season, you may find some guys below him on our list - like Julian Edelman, Golden Tate and Andre Johnson - a little safer options as more established players when going to fill your WR2 slot.
