Scouting report

by Steve Andress

IND RB Jordan Todman - 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Todman is in a competition for touches behind Frank Gore in Indianapolis with Josh Ferguson, Robert Turbin, and Tyler Varga. If he were to emerge as the back-up RB after the preseason, he would have some handcuff value.

Fantasy Downside
Even if Todman were to win the back-up job behind Gore, Gore hasn’t missed a game in five years. Even at Gore’s age, the back-up to him didn’t have any fantasy value in 2015 with the Colts. Plus, there’s no way to determine if Gore’s handcuff would get starter touches if Gore suffered an injury or if it would be a RBBC situation.

Bottom Line
Todman is not a player you will be drafting in 2016, barring a Gore preseason catastrophe and Todman winning the back-up job.

PIT RB Jordan Todman - Week 19, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 19 at Denver
Todman was effective as a runner last week in Cincinnati, gaining 65 yards on 11 carries working as a supplement to Fitzgerald Toussaint. But much of his damage came when he bounced some runs outside. That will be difficult against Denver's defense. Toussaint will likely be the more valuable running back for the Steelers this week.

PIT RB Jordan Todman - Week 18, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 18 at Cincinnati
Toddman could be used as a pass catcher for the Steelers in this one with DeAngelo Williams out. He had 25 receptions in a third-down-type role last season in Jacksonville. But that won't likely be enough to help you win this week.

JAX RB Jordan Todman - Week 2, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Jordan Todman Week 2 vs Redskins
At this point, the only back worth owning from the Jaguars is Toby Gerhart. But Todman got more work when Gerhart went down with an ankle injury last week. The better long-term option, however, might be rookie Storm Johnson.

JAX RB Jordan Todman - 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Jordan Todman has shown flashes at times, including a 100-yard effort in Week 15 against Buffalo last season.

Fantasy Downside
Toby Gerhart wasn't brought in to sit the bench. That leaves Todman in a backup role.

Bottom Line
Todman's likely headed for a change-of-pace, third-down role with the Jags. He's only an option in very deep leagues.
