Scouting report

BUF QB Josh Allen - 2022 Fantasy Football Outlook

2022 Fantasy Upside
Josh Allen has justified his rise in the fantasy quarterback rankings based on the fact he was a dual-threat quarterback who gave you Tier 1 passing stats and rushing stats that make him one of the biggest threats at the position with his legs. Allen eclipsed 4,400 passing yards for the second straight season and had a career-high 763 rushing yards. He did have a career-low 6 rushing touchdowns but Allen is one of just 10 players with 30+ rushing touchdowns since 2018.

2022 Fantasy Downside
Not much downside here. He did throw a career-high 15 interceptions. His overall rating was slightly lower than 2020 and his offensive line could play better. He did gain a better running back in the draft but his receiving corps is not as deep as last season.

2022 Bottom Line
Allen has always been a strong fantasy quarterback since his rookie season and now he is considered one of the top quarterbacks on the field and the No. 1 fantasy quarterback according to all formats in 4for4. Allen is definitely worth taking in the third round and if your league is quarterback heavy, it would be plausible to take him late in the second round.

BUF QB Josh Allen - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Atlanta

Josh Allen put up some of his best numbers of the season and it came in the biggest win of the season against New England. He threw the ball 47 times and ended up passing for 314 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed 64 yards. Although the 47 pass attempts are higher than even the Bills want, it makes Allen's fantasy owners happy.

Allen faces the Falcons who are ranked 29th in aFPA to quarterbacks. There is still a lot on the line for Buffalo and they should be healthy with all of Allen's weapons set to play on Sunday.

Start Allen in all leagues and formats and expect a huge game for him. Everything including the matchup is favoring the Bills offense for Week 17.

BUF QB Josh Allen - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New England

It was a win for the Bills last week and Josh Allen had some decent numbers despite only completing 56% of his passes. He threw for three touchdown passes but only 210 yards. However, there was disappointment in the rushing numbers after a 100+ rushing day two weeks ago. He only had 24 against the Panthers.

Allen will get a rematch with the Patriots who are ranked 1st in the NFL in aFPA to quarterbacks. He had one of his worst games of the season in the first meeting throwing for 145 yards and only one touchdown pass. He did have 39 rushing yards in that game.

Allen will get one receiver back (Emmanuel Sanders) but loses one (Cole Beasley). He is capable of putting big numbers up at any time despite the tough matchup. Start Allen as a top 5 fantasy quarterback for Week 16.

BUF QB Josh Allen - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Carolina

Josh Allen threw a season-high 54 passes last week vs. Tampa Bay and on the surface that might seem like a good thing. But the overall passing numbers were underwhelming for that amount of attempts - 308 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Where his real value came from was running the football. He rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown. So the fantasy numbers were pretty good although it seems they could have even been higher in the passing numbers.

Allen will face the Panthers who are ranked 11th in aFPA to quarterbacks. The one thing to keep an eye on is Allen's foot which was in a walking boot on Monday. He did have limited practice on Thursday so all signs are pointing to him playing on Sunday.

Start Allen as one of the top fantasy quarterbacks for Week 15. Just keep an eye on the actives before the game as the Bills will probably not announce he is inactive until the last minute so they don't show Carolina their hand.

BUF QB Josh Allen - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Tampa Bay
Not much Josh Allen could do last week with the weather conditions in Buffalo. Another loss has the Bill Mafia wondering what's going on. One positive was that Allen didn't throw an interception for the first time since Week 8.

Allen will travel to Tampa Bay to face the Bucs who are ranked 7th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Even with the tough matchup, we feel Allen will pay well in the Florida weather. It seems the Bills can go either way each week. They have looked like the best offense in the NFL certain weeks and other weeks they have disappeared.

Start Allen for Week 14. Allen is poised to bounce back with a big game we think he is the top ranked fantasy quarterback for this weekend.

BUF QB Josh Allen - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. New England
Josh Allen completed 82% of his passes last week for 260 passing yards and four touchdowns. The downside was he threw two more interceptions which gives him 7 in the last four games. He rushed for 43 yards as well which is back to the norm after a couple off weeks. Allen is still playing at a high level but the turnovers are concerning.

Allen will face the Patriots for the first time this season. New England is ranked 2nd in aFPA to quarterbacks. He was very good in one meeting with the Pats last year and very bad in the other. However, this New England defense is much better than 2020.

Start Allen as a top 5 fantasy quarterback despite the unfavorable matchup. We expect the Bills to make a statement on offense on Monday night and that should give Allen's owners a big fantasy day.

BUF QB Josh Allen - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at New Orleans

It was a disaster for the Bills on Sunday and now there are question marks creeping in about Buffalo's offense. Josh Allen was held to 209 passing yards and threw two more interceptions which gives him five over the past three games. He did throw two touchdown passes, but his rushing numbers were down again last week. Allen seemed like a slam dunk every week, but the Bills need to figure some things out.

Buffalo will play New Orleans on Thanksgiving night and the Saints are ranked 31st in aFPA to quarterbacks. The matchup dictates it is a good time for Allen and the Bills offense to get on track.

Start Allen Week 12 in all leagues and formats as a top 5 fantasy quarterback. The matchup is good for the Buffalo offense and despite being on the road, it should be a bounce-back night for the team.
