Fantasy Upside
Josh McCown is coming off a strong 2017 season and will most likely be the Jets' starter to begin the season in 2018. He completed 67 percent of his passes, threw close to 3,000 yards and 18 touchdown passes. If he plays well to start the season and the Jets win, he could stay in the starting role the whole season as they won't want to rush Sam Darnold.
Fantasy Downside
McCown is warming up's Darnold seat. As soon as he has a bad game, the rookie could be given his job, which will probably be the end for McCown in New York, barring injuries. McCown had a good year in 2017, but the Jets' overall offensive weapons aren't anything to write home about.
2018 Bottom Line
There are better options for your QB2 than McCown. If you have a big roster and can hold three quarterbacks, he might be worth picking up. But since we don't know when Darnold will be the man in New York, McCown is a boom-or-bust QB in 2018.
