Scouting report

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs Kansas City Chiefs

As the leader of the sputtering Chargers' passing attack, Josh Palmer did very little of note in Week 10. He saw eight targets, his fourth straight game with six or more targets, but he caught just three for 44 scoreless yards. His only touchdown of the season came back in Week 2. Palmer amassed 5.9 Half PPR points, finishing as the WR56 in Week 10.

Week 11 should be something of a get-right spot for Palmer. The Chiefs rank 28th in aPFA to wide receivers, and it was against this team that Palmer caught his only touchdown pass in 2022. But he is by no means a consistent performer, and with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams set to return Palmer should be viewed as a low-end WR3 this week.

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at San Francisco 49ers

Josh Palmer had his best game of the season against the Falcons in Week 9. He saw 10 targets, his second consecutive game with double-digit looks, and caught eight for 106 yards. These deeds saw him post 14.6 Half PPR points, good for WR11 in Week 9.

Palmer should remain the target leader among the Chargers' pass catchers in Week 10 with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both likely to be missing. He has something approaching a decent matchup, with the 49ers ranked 22nd in aFPA to wide receivers. But he has yet to show he can post multiple fantasy-relevant weeks together, and it is for this reason that we project him as a low-end WR2 this week.

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 9 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9 at Atlanta Falcons

Through six games of the 2022 season, Josh Palmer has just seven fewer receptions than he managed in the whole of last season. He has 26 grabs for 240 yards and a touchdown on his way to 7.2 Half PPR points per game, good for WR59 this season.

With Keenan Allen likely out and Mike Williams definitely on the sidelines, Josh Palmer should see a decent workload in Week 9 against the Falcons. The Falcons currently rank dead last in aFPA to wide receivers in 2022, giving Palmer a WR2 floor and the capacity to finish even higher.

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 7 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7 vs Seattle Seahawks

Josh Palmer had a career day against the Broncos in Week 6. He caught nine balls for the first time in the NFL, but he could only turn this into 57 yards. This was the second time Palmer has crested 50 yards in a game this season. Palmer managed 10.2 Half PPR points and finished as the WR31 in Week 6.

The odds of Palmer having a big fantasy day in Week 7 are pretty long. Not only is Keenan Allen likely to be back, but the Seahawks are also currently third in aFPA to wide receivers. Palmer projects to be a WR4 at best this week.

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at Cleveland Browns

Josh Palmer was supposed to step into the Keenan Allen void and deliver for his fantasy managers in Week 4 against the Texans, but instead, he played just 56% of the snaps (a new season-low) and caught his only target for 25 yards. His 3.0 Half PPR points were "good" for a WR76 finish for Week 4.

The Browns are currently ranked No.25 in aFPA to wide receivers. But Palmer isn't exactly delivering at the moment, making him a very risky fantasy option. It's hard to project him as anything more than a WR5 this week.

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Houston Texans

Josh Palmer was one of the Chargers players who, on paper at least, had a decent day in Week 3 against the Jaguars. Palmer turned his nine targets into six grabs for 99 yards, giving him ten grabs for 129 yards and a score over his last two games. Palmer scored 12.9 Half PPR points, earning him WR24 honors for the week.

The Texans are ranked 24th in aFPA to wide receivers through the first three weeks of the season. Still, the shaky nature of the Chargers' current passing game makes Palmer an extremely low-ceiling option. He should be viewed as a low-end WR3 this week.

LAC WR Josh Palmer - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Josh Palmer saw extended action in Week 2 with Keenan Allen sidelined, playing 91% of the snaps against the Chiefs. He saw eight targets and caught four passes for 30 yards, though a touchdown grab helped him to put up 11.0 Half PPR points, good for a WR32 finish on the week.

Palmer should continue to be viewed as a viable WR3 option this week against the Jaguars, but that is dependent on Keenan Allen's availability. If Allen is able to suit up, then it will be hard to trust Palmer. He'll be competing with Allen, Mike Williams, Austin Ekeler and Gerald Everett.
