Scouting report

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Texans

Justin Herbert was not exactly at his best against the Chiefs in Week 15, but he still posted more than acceptable numbers for his fantasy managers. Herbert completed 57% of his pass attempts, going 22 of 38 for 237 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed five times for another 16 yards and a score, giving him 23 Half PPR points on the week. Herbert is the overall QB2 in that format.

Herbert faces a middle-of-the-pack Texans team in Week 16, with Dave Culley's charges currently ranked 14th in aPFA to quarterbacks. Herbert should be boosted by the likely return of left tackle Rashawn Slater, and can be trusted as a QB1 in Fantasy Semi-Final Week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. Chiefs

Week 14 saw another jaw-dropping performance from Justin Herbert against the outmatched New York Giants. Herbert passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns, including a 59-yard guided missile to Jalen Guyton. He finished the day with 24.9 fantasy points, the fourth-most among the quarterback position in Week 14. Herbert is the overall QB3 in 2021.

Herbert should face a tougher matchup against the Chiefs, who are one of the best defenses in the NFL at present. They rank 7th in aFPA to the quarterback spot, and since Week 6 they've held quarterbacks to an average of 232.6 passing yards and a single touchdown pass per game. The Chargers are likely to be missing their left tackle Rashawn Slater. The Chiefs will be without Chris Jones on Thursday, but Herbert will be made to work this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Giants

Justin Herbert enjoyed another banner day in Week 13 against the Bengals, leading his side to a convincing 41-22 victory. Herbert passed for 317 yards and three touchdowns, also catching a two-point conversion pass from Keenan Allen, on his way to 25.3 Half PPR points and a QB3 finish. Only Tom Brady has more fantasy points among quarterbacks than Herbert in 2021.

Herbert faces an odd situation in Week 14. The Giants are currently ranked third in aFPA to quarterbacks, although this is probably connected to the fact that running backs have feasted on the Giants. The Chargers may be wise to lean more on the ground game this week, with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both likely be missing due to COVID restrictions. Nonetheless, Herbert can still be trusted as a QB1 this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Bengals

It was not a vintage showing from Justin Herbert in Week 12 in the Chargers' loss to the Broncos. Herbert completed 28 of his 44 pass attempts for 303 yards and two touchdowns. It was his sixth 300-yard game of the season and his seventh with multiple scoring passes. But he also tossed two interceptions, all of which contributed to his finishing with 19.7 fantasy points, good for a QB8 finish for the week. Herbert is averaging 22.3 Half PPR points a game this season, good for QB2 in that format.

Herbert should be able to post decent numbers in the coming week as the Chargers take on the Bengals. The Bengals rank 22nd in aFPA to quarterbacks, allowing 17.9 fantasy points per game. Herbert can be trusted as a QB1 this week.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs. Broncos

Justin Herbert put on a master class against the Steelers in Week 11, finishing the week as the overall QB1 in fantasy. Herbert completed 30 of his 41 pass attempts for 382 yards with three touchdowns. He also added a whopping 90 yards on nine carries, finishing his day with 34.3 fantasy points. Herbert is now the QB5 in fantasy points per game in 2021.

On paper, Herbert has a difficult matchup in Week 12 against the Broncos. The Broncos currently rank fourth in aFPA to quarterbacks this season, But if he can replicate his form from a week ago, Herbert can still be trusted in fantasy circles as a QB1. Start with confidence.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Steelers

Despite what was, on paper at least, a promising matchup against the Vikings in Week 10, Justin Herbert was not much of a fantasy factor last week. He managed just 12.0 fantasy points in Half PPR formats, finishing the week as the QB14. Herbert has posted QB2 numbers in three of his last four games, and this form sees him as the QB9 in points per game.

It won't be easy for him to get back on track in Week 11 when the Chargers take on the Steelers. Pittsburgh is 11th in aFPA, however, they are likely to be without Minkah Fitzpatrick and T.J. Watt this week. Herbert should be treated as a low-end QB1 for Week 11.

LAC QB Justin Herbert - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 vs. Vikings

Justin Herbert was quite exceptional against the Eagles in Week 9, on his way to finishing as the QB1 for the week. Herbert completed 32 of his 38 pass attempts for 356 yards and two touchdowns, adding another score on the ground as he finished with 31.6 fantasy points.

Herbert faces a Vikings team that has been average against quarterbacks, ranking 15th in aFPA to the position. Herbert should be a high-end QB1 again this week.
