LAC RB Kalen Ballage - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs Atlanta

Ballage had a fine game last week against the New England Patriots as he carried the ball seven times for 34 yards and caught 3-of-4 targets for five yards. Working exclusively as Austin Ekeler’s direct backup, Ballage had moments of success in his limited opportunities. Most notably, he played ahead of Joshua Kelley who was limited to two touches. For the time being, Ballage should be viewed as an Ekeler handcuff and nothing more.

LAC RB Kalen Ballage - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Buffalo

Ballage had his third-consecutive strong game as the Charger’s starting RB last week against the Jets, as he carried the ball 16 times for 44 yards and caught seven receptions for 27 yards. A very solid PPR game for Ballage where he saw nine targets, giving him a total of 15 over the past two games. It has been a good run for managers who picked Ballage off the waiver wire, however, all good things must come to an end and the impending return of Austin Ekeler will effectively relegate Ballage to the bench. For now, keep Ballage pugged in as an RB2 as Ekeler is still probable to return in Week 12.

LAC RB Kalen Ballage - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs New York Jets

Believe it or not, Kalen Ballage is now a must-start player in fantasy football and it’s all thanks to escaping Adam Gase. Last week against former team Miami, Ballage ran the ball 18 times for 68 yards and caught five balls for 34 yards. With Justin Jackson and Troymaine Pope out due to injury, the backfield came down to Ballage and Joshua Kelley, and fortunately for Ballage managers, Kelley remains unable to be productive.

Up next on the Kalen Ballage Revenge Tour are the New York Jets and Adam Gase, where New York is ranked 26th in aFPA to RBs this season. In a game that should feature plenty of passing attempts from Justin Herbert, Ballage should be fired up as an upside RB2 with low-end RB1 potential in PPR leagues.

MIA RB Kalen Ballage - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Kalen Ballage saw a dramatic drop in snap counts last week as he split playing time with rookies Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin. Ballage is still the starting back, but his lack of production was too difficult for Miami to ignore. On top of everything else, he gets a fairly tough matchup this week against the Eagles. Your best chance of success with Ballage is hoping he stumbles into the endzone, which he's done three times this season. He's a poor flex play at best.

MIA RB Kalen Ballage - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Cleveland Browns

Kalen Ballage is still the featured back in Miami's offense despite not doing anything productive. He ran the ball nine times last week for nine yards, and managed to stumble into the endzone. He also caught five passes, but only got eight yards out of it. Honestly, it's pretty amazing how little Ballage can do despite all the touches he gets. Still, if he's able to catch a handful of passes and score on short-yardage touchdowns then he'll have some use in fantasy as a flex play. He gets a decent matchup this week against the Browns and should be viewed as a flex option or bye-week filler.

MIA RB Kalen Ballage - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 vs. Buffalo Bills

Kalen Ballage is definitely the main back in Miami. In Mark Walton's absence, Ballage had 24 touches (20 carries, 4 receptions). He didn't do a whole lot with that, though, finishing with 45 scrimmage yards. He somehow managed just two yards off of four receptions. Ballage will certainly get another heavy workload against Buffalo this week, but expect him to struggle again. It is a favorable matchup, but Ballage hasn't shown anything of value all season. Your best hope is he somehow stumbles into the endzone on accident. He's a low-end flex play in Week 11.

MIA RB Kalen Ballage - Week 10 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10 at Indianapolis Colts

Kalen Ballage appears to be the main man in Miami's backfield this week. The Dolphins traded away Kenyan Drake and lost Mark Walton to a suspension. The only other backs are Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin who not only have a combined zero touches, but have a combined zero career NFL snaps. Even still, Ballage has been awful in 2019, averaging 2.0 yards per carry while only catching four of his 12 targets. He doesn't even get a good matchup as the Colts are allowing the ninth fewest fantasy points to running backs. Ballage should be viewed as a bye-week filler option in Week 10 as he should get plenty of playing time. He's also scored twice this season, so there's a decent chance of a lucky goal-line score.
