Fantasy Upside
Sure, he finished the 2020 season ranked 14th in the league with 26 touchdown passes and 13th in passing yards (3,971). Still, Kyler Murray was able to demonstrate incremental progress in several areas as a passer, increasing his completion percentage to 67.2 and YPA to 7.1. Additionally, even though he suffered several bumps and bruises during the 2020 campaign, Murray was able to finish all 16 games for the second consecutive season, a testament to his durability. An improved offensive line could help Murray this fall as the team tries to adapt to the expected of Larry Fitzgerald with free-agent addition A.J. Green and rookie Rondale Moore, who will join DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk atop the receiving rotation.
Fantasy Downside
At times last season, the Cardinals looked like one of the highest-powered offenses in the league. But after scoring 30-plus points in six of their first nine games, Arizona was only able to hit that mark once in their final seven contests en route to a disappointing 8-8 finish. Owner Michael Bidwill made it clear this offseason that coach Kliff Kingsbury needs to do more to help Murray get there.
2021 Bottom Line
We all know the deal here. Murray's insane rushing floor is what catches our eye, as he averaged over 50 yards per game on the ground while scoring 11 touchdowns. Having that sort of a starting point negates his mid-range numbers elsewhere, and the fact that Arizona appears to be making a serious push for a title (based on their free-agent moves), adds to the positive vibes. The sky is the limit here.
