Fantasy Upside
The No. 1 overall pick laid claim to 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, and lived up to the hype that prompted Arizona to deal former first-round pick Josh Rosen last offseason. Kyler Murray's unique skills flourished under first-year HC Kliff Kingsbury, and Murray led all rookies in completions and passing yards. His 349 completions were the third-most by a rookie in NFL history. In addition to the solid passing totals, Murray added 544 rushing yards and four running scores.
Fantasy Downside
The rookie's dazzling play was especially impressive behind an offensive line that struggled at times. Murray was sacked 48 times, tied for most in the NFL with Matt Ryan, and that number could have been even higher if not for the young QB's quick trigger and improved escapability as the season wore on.
2020 Bottom Line
Looking forward, there's reason to expect even more. As ESPN's Mike Clay noted, after scoring two or fewer offensive touchdowns during their first five games, the Cardinals' offense managed at least three touchdowns in eight of Arizona's final 11 games last season. The Cardinals scored 53% of their touchdowns through the air, but play calling suggests it should've been closer to 63%. Murray's enhanced play down the stretch leaves him as a solid QB1 with upside heading into his second season as a pro. The addition of one of the best receivers in the game, DeAndre Hopkins, won't hurt.
