The Saints announced their first depth chart:

QB: Drew Brees, Luke McCown, Ryan Griffin, Garrett Grayson

WR: Brandin Cooks, Brandon Coleman, Willie Snead, Lance Lewis, Kyle Prater

WR: Marques Colston, Nick Toon, Seantavius Jones, Joseph Morgan, Josh Morgan, R.J. Harris, Jalen Saunders

RB: Mark Ingram, Khiry Robinson, C.J. Spiller, Tim Hightower, Edwin Baker, Marcus Murphy

FB: Austin Johnson, Erik Lorig, Toben Opurum

TE: Benjamin Watson, Josh Hill, Orson Charles, Kevin Brock, Alex Smith

Fantasy Impact: 

There weren't a lot of surprises according to the author, except that some of the team's younger WRs were listed ahead of veterans. But it's been pretty clear the team is going with a youth movement at the position, so Brandon Coleman, who could end up as the team's WR3, and Seantavius Jones were ahead of guys like Joseph Morgan and Josh Morgan.

Saints bring back K Shayne Graham

Three days after releasing both kickers in their cut to 53 players, the Saints have brought one back.

The team has re-signed kicker Shayne Graham, according to the NFL’s Tuesday transactions.

In a corresponding roster move, the club waived second-year quarterback Ryan Griffin.

Graham, 36, connected on all four field goals (long of 39 yards) and 4-of-5 extra points in preseason play. However, the club parted ways with Graham and Derek Dimke after the exhibition slate.

But now, Graham is back, and seemingly so for the regular season opener at Atlanta.

The move leaves Luke McCown as the lone backup behind Drew Brees. It would not be a surprise if the Saints re-signed Griffin to the practice squad, but he will have to clear waivers first, and it will be interesting to see if he’s picked up after a solid preseason (48-of-77 passing, 530 yards, three TDs, one interception, 90.3 QB rating).

Fantasy Impact: 

The Saints go with Graham after cutting both him and Dimke. It's likely been a frustrating process for those who drafted Graham and then released him after the Saints did. If you can pick him back up, Graham should be a top kicker most weeks this season.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees missed practice on Monday as his wife Brittany gives birth to their fourth child, coach Sean Payton said.

"Everything is going good," Payton said.

Payton said he expected the team to hear something soon.

Payton replaced Brees in early-practice drills with the quarterbacks on Monday at the team's headquarters in Metairie. Luke McCown worked with the first team.

Saints Beat: We really aren't 'overhyping' WR Brandin Cooks

Saints beat writer Mike Triplett: Nobody needed replay to see rookie receiver Brandin Cooks put on another dazzling display later in team drills. Cooks reeled in a touchdown pass of more than 50 yards from Luke McCown by leaping up and outdueling safety Pierre Warren for the ball. He later ran free behind the third-string defense to catch another deep ball from QB Logan Kilgore. As I've said many times, we really aren't overhyping Cooks. He simply keeps makes the biggest highlights on an almost-daily basis. I didn't think he'd be in a position to catch the deep ball against Warren, but sure enough, he rose to the challenge.

Fantasy Impact: 

Cooks's ADP has risen into the late 6th round in PPR formats, going ahead of more established players like Marques Colston, Mike Wallace and Golden Tate. While this is too rich for our blood, there's no doubt that Cooks has had a tremendous offseason and has quite a bit of upside in the Saints' potent offense. Other than typical rookie growing pains, we're worried about the team's spread-it-around style supporting the current expectations for the young receiver.
