GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 vs. New Orleans Saints

Luke Musgrave is top 10 in the NFL amongst tight ends in route participation, ADOT, and air yards so it feels like there should be a breakout eventually here for the rookie tight end. While he's been running a lot of routes, his 15% targets per routes run is a bit disappointing.

Musgrave is on the TE1 bubble this week in leagues that aren't TE premium and the combination of tough matchup and potentially more target competition this week leads me to want to leave him on the bench if I have a comparable option.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Atlanta Falcons

Given that most tight ends outside of the top seven or eight are dart throws most weeks and will need a touchdown to put up a top score, you could certainly do worse than Luke Musgrave's 3 catches for 50 yards in Week 1. He ran a route on 80% of passing plays and had a massive ADOT of 18 yards. He's out there on most passing plays, seeing deep targets, and getting targeted a decent amount on his routes.

The Falcons looked a little soft over the middle against Hayden Hurst and a rookie QB, look for Luke Musgrave to take advantage and put up a TE1 week. Start him confidently.

GB TE Luke Musgrave - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Chicago Bears

Luke Musgrave impressed Packers' coaches right out of the gate and throughout the summer. He has a firm grasp on the TE1 position in Green Bay and could parlay his great summer into a solid Week 1 with the wide receiver injuries around him. Solid for a tight end is, obviously, not quite the same as other positions, but with Christian Watson on the wrong side of questionable (unofficially) and Romeo Doubs only putting in a limited session on Thursday, Musgrave could be in line for a larger than expected workload.

It's not easy for rookie tight ends to get off to big starts, and you likely didn't draft him to start. However, if you are missing Travis Kelce or if George Kittle ends up sitting out, you could do worse than picking up Musgrave as a Week 1 fill-in.
