Fantasy Upside
The Saints traded both Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills this offseason, which should theoretically create more opportunities for Marques Colston in the passing game. If his role expands this year, Colston could wind up being a major bargain as a late-round pick as Graham averaged 11.5 touchdowns over the past four seasons in New Orleans. Somebody has to pick up the slack and at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Colston remains a solid red-zone target.
Fantasy Downside
Colston has scored just 10 total touchdowns over the last two seasons and probably wouldn't still be in New Orleans had he not agreed to a $3.2 million pay cut this offseason. Going on 32 and coming off an ineffective 2014 campaign, Colston will be pushed by younger wideouts Brandon Coleman and Nick Toon throughout the year. The Saints are also transitioning from an uptempo, pass-happy approach to a more ball-controlled offense. So even with Graham and Stills gone, some of the looks that the pass-catchers have received in Payton's offense over the years will be turned into opportunities for the running backs.
Bottom Line
Colston finished as WR33 last season and is ranked as our WR44 heading into the year. He could turn into a bargain at his current ADP of 12.04, but his ceiling is low and he could by bypassed by Coleman at some point during the season. The bottom line is that if Colston is still available late in your draft, he's worth a flier as a WR4. But he comes with little upside at this point in his career.
