Scouting report

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 13, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13: Colston vs. Steelers
Marques Colston caught all four of his targets for 82 yards and a touchdown in the Saints' Week 12 loss to the Ravens. While his fantasy stats were more impressive, it's noteworthy that Colston was targeted four times while Drew Brees looked Kenny Stills way nine times on the night. From the outset, it appears that Stills will be the one to benefit from Brandin Cooks' injury and not Colston, although the latter may be more of a red zone option. With a No. 40 overall ranking in PPR formats this week, view Colston as a FLEX option only.

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 12, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12: Colston vs. Ravens
Marques Colston caught 4-of-8 targets for 56 yards in the Saints’ Week 11 loss to the Bengals in what continues to be a frustrating year for the veteran wideout. That said, Colston should see a bump in targets following the team’s decision to place rookie Brandin Cooks (thumb) on injured reserve. It’s hard to trust Colston given how inconsistent he’s been, but hold onto him in all formats and watch how Sean Payton uses him on Monday night versus the Ravens. He ranks as our No. 41 overall WR for Week 12 so he isn’t a great starting option this week, but his value may have just gone up (albeit at the cost of his teammate).

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 11, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11: Colston vs. Bengals
Marques Colston caught two passes on four targets for 36 yards in the Saints’ loss to the 49ers in Week 10. He also had a drop that would have led to a big gain but he allowed the deep pass to go off his fingers after he had beaten the coverage. He has a tough matchup versus a Cincinnati team that has allowed the third fewest amount of fantasy points to receivers this season and he hasn’t been consistent all year. Avoid Colston as he ranks as our No. 48th overall WR for Week 11.

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 10, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 10: Colston vs. 49ers
Marques Colston caught 3-of-3 targets for 36 yards in the Saints’ Week 9 win over the Panthers as he continues to disappoint. Outside of his six-catch, 111-yard performance in Week 7 against Detroit, Colston has failed to deliver for fantasy owners this season. He continues to be the third option behind Jimmy Graham and Brandin Cooks in the Saints’ passing game and should be considered a low-end WR3 in all formats. He ranks as our No. 46 WR for Week 10.

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 9, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 9: Colston vs. Panthers
Marques Colston caught four passes for 49 yards in the Saints' Week 8 victory over the Packers. He hasn't been consistent all season and is now the third option behind Jimmy Graham and Brandin Cooks in Sean Payton's offense. Through seven games he's caught 25 passes for 407 yards with one touchdown and should be viewed as a low-end WR3 for the time being. He ranks as our No. 29 overall WR for Week 9.

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 8, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 8: Colston vs. Packers
Marques Colston caught 6-of-10 targets for 111 yards in the Saints’ Week 7 loss to the Lions. Those 10 targets led New Orleans and it was the most looks he’s received this season. He should continue to see plenty of targets over the middle with Jimmy Graham limited due to a shoulder injury. He ranks as our No. 41 overall WR for Week 8 against the Packers, so consider him a WR4.

NO WR Marques Colston - Week 7, 2014 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 7: Colston vs. Lions
Marques Colston caught three-of-six targets for 63 yards in the Saints’ Week 5 win over the Bucs. Considering Jimmy Graham left the game early due to a shoulder injury, the results were disappointing for Colston owners. The good news is that with a bye week to prepare, Colston should see more opportunities over the middle and down the seam where Graham usually dominates. That said, he ranks as our No. 40 overall WR in standard formats for Week 7 and should be considered a WR4 in all leagues. He just hasn’t been a trustworthy start this season.
