Saints placing Michael Thomas on injured reserve, ending his regular season

The Saints are placing WR Michael Thomas on injured reserve as his ankle injury from Week 1 is still lingering.

Fantasy Impact: 

Being put on injured reserve now means his regular season is over with three games left. But Thomas is expected to be ready for the start of the playoffs. All the more reason for the Saints to get the NFC's No. 1 seed and the first-round bye so Thomas can have an extra week to rest. Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith should see an uptick in targets, especially with Drew Brees back under center.

Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle, out) missed practice all week and is out for Week 15. We were right to be worried about the back-to-back DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday. With Thomas out, Emmanuel Sanders gets a big bump into low-end WR2 territory. Tre'Quan Smith is also a decent WR4/WR5 dart throw and Jared Cook is back in the TE1 range. Alvin Kamara gets a big bump as well since he saw incredible usage with Thomas out earlier in the season.

Saints WR Michael Thomas will not play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Fantasy Impact: 

Well then. Good thing Drew Brees is back, or maybe this is why Brees is back. Look for Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith to see a heavy workload at receiver.

New Orleans Saints superstar wide receiver Michael Thomas was sidelined during Thursday's practice session due to an ankle injury.

Fantasy Impact: 

Thomas is dealing with an ankle injury and has missed practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. However, Thomas is the rare wide receiver who could be active even without being able to practice during the week. With that said, the Saints will likely want to see him practice on Friday. This is a situation to monitor, and fantasy managers should get a contingency option ready just in case.
