Scouting report

DEN TE Noah Fant - 2020 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
After getting off to a slow start during his rookie season, Noah Fant finished with 40 receptions for 562 yards and three TDs. In his first seven contests, he had only 15 grabs and failed to register more than 40 yards. However, over the final nine stanzas, Fant eclipsed 50 yards four times, twice of which came after Drew Lock took over at QB. Overall he averaged a healthy 14 yards per catch.

Fantasy Downside
As a rookie, Fant caught more than three passes just four times. Although he is the clear No. 1 tight end, the Broncos drafted Albert Okwuegbunam in the fourth round and have other capable TEs on the roster. Denver has a lot of young receiving options for Lock, including RBs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay.

2018 Bottom Line
As he becomes more familiar with OC Pat Shurmur’s offense, look for Fant to slowly become a bigger part of the passing attack, especially with rookies Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler spreading the field with their speed. The former first-round pick is a TE2 option coming into the ’20 season but has good upside, especially in the red zone with his 6’4” and 250-pound frame.

DEN TE Noah Fant - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 vs. Oakland Raiders
Noah Fant saw only two targets from Drew Lock last Sunday versus Detroit, resulting in two catches for 10 yards. After a big game in Week 14, Fant has registered just four grabs on five looks the past two contests. In his first NFL game at Oakland back in Week 1 he caught two passes for 29 yards. Consider Fant a TE2 option in the rematch.

DEN TE Noah Fant - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Detroit Lions
In the loss at Kansas City last week, Noah Fant had the Broncos longest reception of the day, snagging a 43-yard pass. Even with the snowy conditions, the rookie finished with 56 yards on two grabs and on the season is averaging 39 receiving yards per game. Look for the rookie-to-rookie combination of Drew Lock to Fant to have a good outing at home versus the second-worst pass defense, but Fant is still just a TE2 play.

DEN TE Noah Fant - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 at Kansas City Chiefs
The rookie to rookie combination was working at Houston last week. Drew Lock connected with Noah Fant for his first completion, a short pass that ended up going for 48 yards. In the big win, Fant led the Broncos with 113 yards on four receptions and his third NFL TD. Versus KC in Week 7 he had his worst day as a pro, finishing with just a seven-yard reception and numerous drops. Since that outing, Fant has become a bigger part of the passing attack but still makes just a TE2 start in the rematch.

DEN TE Noah Fant - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 at Houston Texans
While Drew Lock to Noah Fant may be the future for the Broncos, in their first game together last Sunday the rookies connected for just a five-yard reception. In the past two contests, Fant has recorded only four grabs for 19 yards. It’s not a good matchup for Denver at Houston this week, so look elsewhere for your starting TE.

DEN TE Noah Fant - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Brandon Allen threw for less than 100 yards in the loss against the Bills last week, with Noah Fant leading the Broncos with three receptions but for just 14 yards. With Allen at the helm the past three games the rookie has recorded 10 grabs for 189 yards and a TD. On the season Fant is averaging 34 receiving yards per outing, however, in the October win against the Chargers, he was held to just a six-yard grab. With the inconsistency of the Denver offense, and now with another QB in Drew Lock, Fant makes for more of a TE2 option in the rematch.

DEN TE Noah Fant - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 at Buffalo Bills
With Brandon Allen at QB for Denver last week at Minnesota, Noah Fant saw a team-high 11 targets, including the game’s final two looks in the end zone with the Broncos at the four-yard line. In the heartbreaking loss, the rookie snagged four passes for 60 yards, bringing his two-game total with Allen under center to seven grabs for 175 yards and a TD. After his miserable game versus the Chiefs in mid-October, Fant has improved, posting 12 of 27 season receptions during the past three outings. He has a tough matchup at Buffalo on Sunday but could be an important safety valve for the inexperienced signal-caller.
