NYG WR Odell Beckham - Week 6, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Philadelphia

Odell Beckham Jr. had a great game against the 49ers. He was hobbled, but managed to have seven catches for 121 yards and a touchdown as the Giants got away with the narrow victory. He has scored in three of his last four games and should continue to be the primary target in the New York passing game.

Keep an eye on Beckham’s hamstring issue that kept him out of parts of the final drive of the game on Sunday night. Should he start, however, he remains an elite fantasy option against the Eagles and their 26th-ranked pass defense. Barring any setbacks with his hamstring, we have him as a top-5 fantasy option and he should be active as a WR1 in all leagues.

NYG WR Odell Beckham - Week 5, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 vs. San Francisco

Odell Beckham Jr. didn’t have a great game against the Bills last week, finishing with with only 38 yards on five receptions to go along with a $9,000 fine for punching Buffalo DB Duke Williams. However, aside from the troubles from the game, OBJ was targeted a team-high 12 times again and he remains the primary target in the Giants passing attack.

This week, OBJ will face a struggling 49er secondary and should benefit from an excellent matchup. New York has looked a little better each week, culminating in last week’s convincing victory over the Bills, and the second year standout receiver should benefit. He’s an elite fantasy option each week and should be active as a WR1 in all leagues.

NYG WR Odell Beckham - Week 4, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 at Buffalo

Odell Beckham Jr. had another solid outing against Washington last week, catching seven of the nine balls thrown his way for 79 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown. He remains heavily targeted in the Giants offense and is an elite fantasy WR.

This week, he’ll face a tough task against the Bills, who have looked stout on the defensive side of the ball this season while still giving up pretty big passing numbers. Rishard Matthews played well against them on Sunday, and Tom Brady did his thing against them in Week 2. Expect Beckham to continue his elite ways and to be a top fantasy option again this week. He should be active in all leagues as a WR1.

NYG WR Odell Beckham - Week 3, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Washington

Last week, Odell Beckham Jr. reminded fantasy owners why he’s such an amazing receiver. He hauled in seven of the 12 balls thrown his way and wound up with 146 yards in a losing effort against the Falcons. Beckham showed off his playmaking with a 67-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown.

This week Beckham will face a Washington defense that has only given up 328 yards through the air in the first two weeks, but has allowed a pair of touchdowns through the air. Regardless of the matchup, Beckham should remain an elite fantasy option and should be active in all leagues as a WR1.

NYG WR Odell Beckham - Week 2, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 vs. Atlanta

Odell Beckham Jr. was disappointing against the Cowboys last week with just 44 receiving yards. However, he was targeted a team-high eight times and ended up with five receptions, meaning he’ll continue to be a primary focus for the Giants passing offense. The second-year standout should rebound as the season progresses.

This week may be a good week for Beckham to come back to life. The Falcons gave up 10 catches to Jordan Matthews last week and struggled to put together a consistent pass rush against the Eagles. Despite a tough start to the season, Beckham is an elite fantasy option. He has a top five ranking with his matchup this week and should be active in all leagues.

NYG WR Odell Beckham - Week 1, 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Dallas

Odell Beckham Jr. looked a bit out of synch in the preseason, but that shouldn’t scare fantasy owners away from the sophomore star. Dallas figures to be a tough defense this year against the pass, as they picked off 18 passes a year ago, but OBJ put up 14 catches, 180 yards and four touchdowns in two games against them last year. He should be just fine.

Beckham Jr. is an elite fantasy option, and he’s not going to be on your bench all season. You drafted him as a WR1, and we expect he’ll remain in that spot throughout. We have him ranked 6th on our board this week, putting him in the upper echelon of options, despite a potentially tough matchup. Start him.

NYG WR Odell Beckham - 2015 Fantasy Football Outlook

Odell Beckham Jr. started the season injured last year, causing some to worry he would have a limited impact in his rookie year. However, when he came back he completely lit the world on fire. Beginning Monday night against the Colts, OBJ went on a nine game tear, averaging nine catches, 133 yards, and a touchdown per game to finish the season. He wound up finishing 10th in the league in receiving yardage tied for 9th in receptions, despite playing in only 12 games! The Giants are hoping for a repeat performance from the sure-handed receiver out of LSU.

Fantasy Upside
There are many things that make OBJ so good. He has excellent hands, as evidenced by his catch of the year to score against the Cowboys on November 23rd, and he has exceptional route running skills for such a young player. He’s fast enough to get downfield, but has a full route tree to do damage underneath. He also has great ball skills, elevating to the highest point despite his 5’11 frame, and coming down with jump balls. He’s a red zone target (he scores 12 touchdowns last year) and was targeted 132 times last season, showing that he already has an excellent rapport with Eli Manning.

Fantasy Downside
The Giants have had some inconsistent production from receivers in the past. Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, and even Victor Cruz have all in recent history blown up at times, only to fizzle out fairly quickly. Additionally, OBJ is still young and now other teams have a lot of film on him, making it likely that opposing defenses will be better prepared for him in 2015.

Bottom Line
The downsides are quibbling at this point. Beckham seems like a legit fantasy receiver on all accounts, and whether the Giants are successful winning games or not, it doesn’t appear as though they’ll stop throwing the ball any time soon. That should mean plenty of targets and plenty of production for the second year standout. We have him as an elite fantasy option and should be in the running for a first round pick.
