LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 6 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 6 at Denver Broncos

This is a tough matchup for Quentin Johnston and the Chargers passing attack, but now it is even more crowded as Joshua Palmer is returning. Denver is 1st aFPA against wide receivers which is not what you want to see if you have any Chargers receivers.

Combine the tough matchup, with the return of Palmer, and the always low-volume passing attack and I'd be looking elsewhere if I had Johnston. I'm sure this means he is going to have another 2 touchdown game now, but while he's in flex consideration, I would be looking elsewhere.

LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 4 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 4 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Another week with low expectations for Quentin Johnston, another week with a broken coverage and a touchdown. Johnston only saw two targets last week and a broken coverage allowed him to get open for a touchdown, he finished with 2 catches for 27 yards.

While the Chiefs are easier to attack through the air, they are 13th aFPA against wide receivers, they are still a below-average matchup and going into the game with Taylor Heinicke instead of Justin Herbert doesn't help things. He ranks as WR59 and is not in starting consideration in any format this week.

LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 3 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 3 at Pittsburgh Steelers

Was Week 2 a sign of things to come or a one-week wonder for Quentin Johnston? Most likely we know the answer. Johnston has been wildly inefficient and prone to drops for over a year now and one week likely isn't enough to change that.

However, he's at least on the flex radar this week. He's a back-end option as he checks in as WR47 in the rankings, but he's at least on the radar this week if you're desperate and spent some FAAB on him this week.

LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Denver Broncos

In what became a truly dire game of football in reality and fantasy, Quentin Johnston did not disgrace himself in Week 13. He caught five of his seven targets for a career-high 52 yards, finishing with 7.7 Half-PPR points, "good" for WR38. This was much better than his seasonal average of 3.6 and ranking as WR93.

Johnston remains far too erratic a performer to trust in fantasy football, and a matchup against a Broncos team ranking fourth in aFPA to wide receivers makes him far from appealing in Week 14. He projects as a desperation WR5 at best.

LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 13 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 13 at New England Patriots

Quentin Johnston's rookie season from hell continued in Week 12, with the Ravens allowing him to catch one of his three targets for seven yards. Johnston's 1.2 Half-PPR points saw him finish outside the top 100 wide receivers last week.

The Patriots are not exactly a shutdown unit for wide receivers this season, but Johnston has done so little all year that expecting big things from him has become a pathway of folly. It could be asked why you need him on your bench at this point of the season, let alone if you should be starting him.

LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 12 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 12 vs Baltimore Ravens

Quentin Johnston's rookie season continues to be one of lowlights and missteps, never more evident than against the Packers in Week 11. He drew six targets, but could only reel in two for 21 yards. He let a potential 70-yard touchdown fall through his hands with the game on the line, a big part of why he only managed 3.1 Half PPR points.

The matchup against the Ravens is far from an appealing one, with the Ravens ranking third in aFPA to wide receivers. But Johnston has done so little to justify any benefit of any doubt ahead of any matchup that it would be folly to start him and expect anything. If he goes off on your bench this week, then you can shrug and know that you followed the process.

LAC WR Quentin Johnston - Week 11 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 11 at Green Bay Packers

Quentin Johnston showed some flashes in Week 10, chipping in with 11.4 Half-PPR points against the Lions. This was a massive improvement on his season average of 3.5, which trails 102 other wide receivers in points per game in 2023.

We shouldn't expect too much more than this from Johnston this week, given the tough matchup and his own inconsistency. He's a desperation WR5 play this week, and unlikely to be much more than that.
