MIA RB Raheem Mostert - Week 5 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 5 at New England Patriots

After getting injured in Week 1, we haven't seen Raheem Mostert. While the offense isn't in a great spot, Mostert returning to action is a welcomed sight.

Mostert is a RB3/flex option this week in a difficult matchup against the Patriots. New England ranks 7th aFPA against running backs so far this season so it's not the best matchup to return for.

MIA RB Raheem Mostert - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Coming off a season with 21 touchdowns (18 on the ground, 3 receiving) we certainly expect some touchdown regression for Raheem Mostert, but he's still, at worst, the 1B to De'Von Achane and the presumed goal-line back in one of the best offenses in football.

While Mostert will have more appeal in standard or half-PPR formats, he's not a total dud in PPR. With the goal line role in a game with a total at 49 and a team total north of 26 points, they are in one of the best offensive environments on the weekend. Mostert is a solid RB2 play for Week 1.

MIA RB Raheem Mostert - 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside
Similar to last year, Mostert is being undervalued in the draft season because there's just no way a 32-year-old can do it again! Except maybe he can? At RB27 on Underdog, he doesn't even have to finish as RB3 again this year to exceed expectations. He just has to maintain some level of efficiency and not concede the majority of the goal-line work that led to him scoring 21 touchdowns. Mostert still has to remain healthy, but the situation hasn't really changed enough for him to be going this low.

Fantasy Downside
The story you tell yourself if you're looking to fade is that age, injuries, or both catch up to Mostert and Achane takes over as the lead back in a 50/40/10 split with Jaylen Wright and concedes some of the goal line work. It seems more likely he concedes the lead-back role than the goal line, but injuries or age could derail it.

2024 Bottom Line
The bottom line on Mostert is that as long as he maintains the goal-line role he'll still be fantasy-viable every week. Going as the RB27, he's a strong buy in best ball and half-point PPR redraft leagues.

MIA RB Raheem Mostert - Week 17 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 17 at Baltimore Ravens

Last week Raheem Mostert ran 11 times for 46 yards and also caught a 4-yard touchdown. Mostert is almost a guaranteed touchdown machine, scoring in 12 of his 15 games this season. He gets a revenge game this week against the Ravens who are a tough matchup as they are 1st in aFPA to RBs. Mostert may have a tough time scoring this week as the Ravens have only given up six total touchdowns to the position, tied for the second-fewest in the league. It's not a great matchup, but Mostert has been too productive this year to leave him out of your lineups. He's still a low-end RB1 option for Week 17.

MIA RB Raheem Mostert - Week 16 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Raheem Mostert continued his dominant season last week as he ran 15 times for 42 yards with two touchdowns. He now has 20 touchdowns on the season, which is a Dolphins franchise record. He's also scored two touchdowns in three of his last four games. This week Mostert gets an OK matchup vs. the Cowboys (16th aFPA) where he'll likely continue to split touches with rookie De'Von Achane. But the Dolphins like Mostert near the goal line, so he remains a strong bet to score a touchdown. He'll be a strong RB1 option in Week 16.

MIA RB Raheem Mostert - Week 15 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs. New York Jets

Despite De'Von Achane returning, the Dolphins still leaned heavily on Raheem Mostert last week. He ran 21 times for 96 yards and scored two touchdowns. He also caught one pass for four yards. Mostert played on 64% of the offensive snaps, and proved that he and Achane can both succeed at the same time. Mostert should keep up his high level of production this week against the Jets (28th aFPA). He played well against them just a few weeks ago with 94 yards and two touchdowns. He should be viewed as a solid RB1 option for Week 15.

MIA RB Raheem Mostert - Week 14 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs. Tennessee Titans

Raheem Mostert was fine last week as he ran 11 times for 43 yards with a touchdown while also catching one pass for eight yards. Mostert pretty much disappeared at halftime as the Dolphins' score got out of hand, resulting in him playing a season-low 38% of the offensive snaps. In his place was rookie sensation De'Von Achane who had a 100-yard game. While it's easy to see Achane go off last week and assume he's the new lead back, we'd still expect this backfield to split touches. Mostert's lack of usage was more due to the game script than anything else. Mostert should still be viewed as a solid RB1 option in Week 14 vs. the Titans (16th aFPA).
