Carroll: Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny 'busted out'

Rashaad Penny, who notched the first 100-yard rushing performance of his carer and finished with 108 yards on 12 carries, also had a career-high 38-yard run the first time he touched the ball — his previous long was 15. Penny followed that with an 18-yarder for a touchdown that put Seattle ahead 14-7.

“Today he busted out,’’ HC Pete Carroll said. “We’ve been challenging him to get right and to work at the right tempo and find what it’s like to be a pro, just teaching a young guy trying to figure it out… I thought today he needed it so badly. He knows he’s a great player. He just hasn’t been able to demonstrate it.’’

Fantasy Impact:

Penny could start to get a more consistent workload if Carson is going to miss more time. Davis wasn't terrible, rushing 11 times for 58 yards, which is still 5.3 per carry. Davis also added four catches for 22 yards and a TD, so if Carson returns, Penny could still be the odd man out in this backfield.

Pete Carroll said it looks like D.J. Fluker (calf) is going OK but he’s not sure about Chris Carson (hip) or Bradley McDougald (knee). Expect Carson and McDougald to not do much in practice this week.

Carroll said Carson was sore, according to other reports, but said the same about him last week and he was able to suit up before leaving the game this past week. Looks like practice later in the week will be key for Carson's Week 10 status. The injury is considered to be to his hip, but as we noted in a report after Sunday's game, Carson's leg was wrapped, according to reports. Either way, Davis would see an increased role if Carson can't go, with Penny also mixing in.

Seahawks RB Chris Carson doesn't return after hip injury

The Seahawks entered the second half of Sunday’s game against the Chargers at CenturyLink Field playing without starting tailback Chris Carson.

Carson went out with a hip injury after picking up 40 yards on eight carries in the first half.

Fantasy Impact:

Carson got his last carry with 7:49 to play in the second quarter and then retired to the bench. He watched the second half with his left leg heavily wrapped. Davis and Penny could see increased rolls in the run game if Carson's injury causes him to miss time.
