NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 2 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 2 at Oakland Raiders

Robby Anderson started the season kind of like the Jets. Nothing to see here. He was targeted 8 times which is good news, and caught 4 passes, but for only 22 yards. The issue is more at quarterback than with Anderson. He is probably the best Jets receiver and will receive the most attention in the offense.

Still, the Jets offense as a whole is bad. As long as the quarterback position continues to be subpar, Anderson's value is limited. Keep him on the bench for Week 2.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 1 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 1 at Buffalo Bills

Somebody has to catch the ball in New York, and with Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall no longer with the team and Quincy Enunwa already out for the season, the No. 1 WR role falls on Robby Anderson. Anderson showed some promising play his rookie season and could end up being a decent wide receiver.

The bigger question is QB Josh McCown and the overall offense, especially the passing game. Anderson will get targets and has a good matchup against a below-average Buffalo defense. But that's still not enough to place him in your starting lineup for Week 1. Keep Anderson on the bench.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - 2017 Fantasy Football Outlook

Fantasy Upside

No doubt Robby Anderson is the best Jets wide receiver option. Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are gone and Quincy Enunwa is out for the season, so it's Anderson by default. He has value because someone has to catch the ball in New York. Anderson did catch 42 passes for 587 yards his rookie year, so there is optimism he can play at a successful level in the NFL.

Fantasy Upside

The problem for Anderson is that he plays for the Jets. Their offense could be one of the NFL's worst and that is not going to benefit any offensive skill players. There are plenty of unknowns at quarterback, plus Anderson has to play the role of the No. 1 WR, when he is more of a third option at best.

2017 Bottom Line

Well, he will get targets and catch passes, which is something. The Jets situation aside, Anderson has moved up the fantasy depth charts just because he is his team's best option. He is probably worth taking a flier on around Round 16 as a WR4. But taking any Jets player this year is a monumental risk.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 16, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 16 at New England
Robby Anderson has had 10 catches for 179 yards over the past two games and has become the No. 1 receiver for the Jets during that time. The targets were down a little this past game compared to the previous two weeks, but the production was still there.

The problem for Anderson is how bad the Jets offense has been at the quarterback position, and against New England it doesn't expect to get any better even though the Patriots are average in pass defense. Keep Anderson on the bench even though he is the Jets best option. QB Bryce Petty makes us cringe in the passing game.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 15, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 15 vs Miami
Robby Anderson has had back-to-back effective fantasy weeks and appears to be the best option on the Jets in their limited passing game. Brandon Marshall is banged up and even if he does play, Anderson is the better option.

The Dolphins are 23rd in aFPA to wide receivers, so Anderson could have some success. But with Bryce Petty at quarterback, the Jets passing game is very limited. Keep Anderson on the bench for Week 15.

NYJ WR Robby Anderson - Week 14, 2016 Fantasy Football Outlook

Week 14 vs San Francisco
It seems Robby Anderson has stepped into the No. 2 receiver spot. He was targeted 12 times last week and had his first touchdown of the season. It might have been a one-game fluke, but you have to at least keep an eye him. Just make sure he is on your bench or the waiver wire when you are doing that.
